Oppey Wants A Job

Back in 90 I bought an old four square and remodeled it. I lived in the attic master bedroom with a sunken ceramic tub and 2 skylights. I was single at the time and my biz was going strong. Good times.

Well this young guy kept calling me for a job, so one night all the fella's where there shooting pool and drinking beer and I told the fella come on over and meet the crews.

After declining a few offers for beer the young fella, lets call him oppey, said he must leave but before he walked out he turned to me and said "Mr Anderson, I don't drink, I'm on time every morning, and I work hard for my money."

The room fell silent, and I had 11 maggots there. I turned and looked at the fella's, then looked back at oppey, put one hand on his shoulder and said "well oppey, .....I really don't think your going to fit into the organization."

I hired him, he was correct about the working hard thing, The other character flaws we helped him work through.

LOL
Back in '79 I lived with a sewer crew down in Richmond for a while and they helped me the same way. They showed me things that my little parochial school, white bread, 'Yankee' ass had never even imagined. After getting buried alive (literally) by the bunch of them I decided that was all the help I could take. I moved away from Richmond but, ya' know, it wasn't that easy getting over some of the habits that they had helped me pick up. Fortunately for me, it wasn't too long before the state police and court system decided that THEY would help me. Since then I've been a lot more picky about the help I accept  no matter what it pays.

All that help I got really made for some interesting years. They were a blast.

Re: Oppey Wants A Job

Yea man, Va police and courts kinda resemble the NAZI's. Don't get me wrong I have the utmost respect for most of them (it's been drilled in), but Va seems to live on standards of it's own.

I went to jail one night for drunk in public in Rk and I hadn't had a drink ....yet...... I asked the cop how he figured I was drunk in public, he said he was too tired to think up somthing else.

Va is where I hired Oppey.
