One Lucky Lady Living To Talk About It!

OK, now, that the 'worst' is over, I will briefly share my story.

Until today, only Tom R and Beau knew why I was M.I.A. Truth is, I had three aneurysms turn my brain into a fireworks show. This actually happened on Monday, the 7th but I did not actually go to the hospital until Friday evening, August 11th. (Too busy working; gives the word 'deadline' a new meaning. ) Well, the hospital I went to ran a CT Scan and ran a Spinal Tap in 4 different directions. Needless to say, the results were not good. They rushed me by ambulance to Northwestern Memorial in Chicago. (Neurosurgeons that rule the planet reside there.) I have NEVER in my life seen a more efficient hospital. I felt I was placed in some VERY good hands. Of course, my surgeon credits God for this one! Seems, I should have died and I did not. Seems A LOT of left turns should have taken place and they did not. Seems I got lucky, and perhaps I am too ornery for God to be 'ready' for me. Hey, whatever the case, I'm happy to be writing this. I'm happy to be alive.

For the bad news: I have a head full of staples (Bride of Frankenstein a bit soon for Halloween. ) They shaved my hairline from the center of my forehead to my right ear. ANYONE INTERESTED IN A PICTURE OF ME NOW??? Not exactly "Trish the Dish" right now! LOL All three aneurysms were located behind my right eye. All are 'arrested'/clipped.
The REAL bad news is that the party ain't over. I have one more aneurysm on my brainstem basically behind my left ear. However, they held a conference "in my honor" with all the neuro and vascular surgeons present. The general concensus was for me to "heal" from the current trauma to my brain, be under constant monitoring, and have invasive brain surgery on #4 several months (God-willing) down the road. A bit trickier but certainly the onlt real choice that makes sense.

I have beaten EVERY odd in this game so far. And I mean EVERY ONE! I was even released 5 days early!

I have quit smoking. (Not easy but it's time to grow up.)

I was requested to join a research committee due to the "severe" and "rare" nature of this "episode". I 'signed on'. (Blonde/brain; brain/blonde.... ....they're bound to find something 'curious' ).

Oh....and morphine....yup...good stuff! Weeeeeee!!!!

Last but not least, sorry to hear we lost MrMojo. I liked him. He was funny and sweet. I will miss him. He wrote some nice posts.

It's times like this we realize how precious and rare life is. I also realize how wonderful my family and friends are...(always did, though. ) And, that includes all of you!

OK, so now that I fessed up, let's get to the "good" stuff. Did I miss any controversy? Any thread closings? Did anyone streak across the stage while I was gone? Fill me in!

You have youth on your side.
That and the staff at NW, you will be fine.
Just don't go walking through any medal detectors until they remove
them staples.

Good Luck, and congratulations on quitting smoking.

Patty,

Youy have some prayers coming from down in the south here also. Hope your recovery goes without incident. Let others help you and relax like your doctors have probably told you to.

Wow Patty, The Almighty is difinitely keeping you around for some special purpose. Maybe He will disclose this to you some time soon.

Not to take away from your time, but when I was 15, I was hit broadside by a car going 65mph, while I was on my 3 wheeler (ATV). All I got was a shattered leg and some other scars, but I SHOULD have been dead. I realized that God had a special purpose for my life, and spared me that day!!!

May God bless you, and may you return the favor with your Love!!!!

First it was "I have to work Sunday".....that didn't work....so it became self inflicted brain surgery.

It's amazing what a girl will do to herself to get out of a Saturday night party.

Judy and I are glad to hear things worked out between you and the big guy, he doesn't reschedule often. Our best wishes are with ya gal.

Patty, so glad to have you back! I assumed that you were traveling on business. What a shock!

Aneurysms can be catastrophic. The docs said that my friend, Capt. Dennis, wife was dead before she hit the floor. My prayers are with you.

BTW, the Seville oranges are about tennisball size. You don't want to exit before tasting the shrimp the right way! Hang in there!
