Thought that might be a fun thread, how it work, post anything that you will start or stop doing today, does not have to be for real, but in a fun way, one might say, starting today I stop calling Teetorbilt Tatorbilt.

Today I stop drinking at work.

Starting today I stop thinking I'm a carpenter.

Starting today I will:
A. charge for design time on jobs with no plans/specs..
B. get a deposit before estimating large jobs or medium ones that will take time to estimate.

I just got done estimating a job that required installing many solid, hand hewn beams and T&G on the ceiling of a very rich guy's new (under construction) 8,000 sq. ft. custom home. After spending 2 days doing takeoffs,
estimating the job, and writing up a detailed proposal...I called the customer to tell him I had a proposal for him and ask him when we could meet so I could deliver it....he asks me on the phone what the price is....I reluctantly tell him the price is $56k....it took him almost a second and a half to tell me..."I just got a price of $50k...thanks for your time...bye"
