Now THIS Is A Profitable Business!

Sirius is getting ready to take over XM Radio. Whoop de do? I don't think so! Think about this for a moment. Between the two, there are 18 MILLION plus subscribers, all of which are paying AT LEAST $10/month.

Folks, that is a gross income of $180 million a MONTH, $2.16 BILLION per year.

And.....it is still growing.

That is one big business boner. I wonder how much overhead they have?

A lot, I forgot what they were paying Howard Stern but it was a ton. But yeah, they'll be making some good money, just like the cable companies were (may still, they charge enough).

They are still in trouble, hoping this merger will show a profit one day.

So what's the take on how this will work? I have XM in my Chev, will it need reprogrammed or will they automatically do that?

The two services are not compatible electronically, but they have agreed to keep both services up and running for en extended period, hybrid receivers will be available within a year or so. Along with more menu choices (a la carte, best of both, etc)

Overhead? Have you launched a satellite recently?

No, but I would like to, I'd call it the Mickey 500. Aren't they just going to use existing satellites?

They are using existing satellites, but they're still out the money they paid to put them all up there when they first launched the services, I believe they're dedicated

I had a chance to buy into XM radio when they first came out for a little over $1 a share. My "former" boss and i discussed it and decided it probably wouldnt take off to well. Man was i an IDIOT!!! I had a couple grand at the time and that would have been a great investment now that i look back on it.
