Need Help With A Boy Name!

My wife and I are expecting our first kid in May. We are set if it's a girl, but can't come to terms for a boy.

I'm fighting hard so if comes out a boy he doesn't get a sally name like Landon. I'm hoping if it's a boy down the road he'll be in the trades also. But, with a sally name I don't wish him the pain of that.

Need some ideas that are tough and roughed, but Bob, Ed, or Chuck she shoots me down evertime.

Franklin is a no since thats where I grew up and she says I have an ego about it, Walter is a no, that's to close to her grandpas name. Forrest reminds her of GUMP!

Shes threw this one out there now, Mason?
Hunter is a cool one, but that would make 3 in the family, so it's out.

Re: Need Help With A Boy Name!

While I know exactly where you're coming from, in reality I think the personality does more to shape peoples' perception of the person than the name does to shape that person.

That said, my wife and I had minimal bloodshed during this process.

Our first boy has the first name of her father and one of my favorite uncles, and my middle name.

Our second boy has my father's middle name and my cousin's first name as his first name. His middle name starts with the same letter as my wife's middle name.

Got all that? Good! Now get over all of the hissy-fits and name him Ralph.

Re: Need Help With A Boy Name!

Baby names usually reflect the personalities of the parents IMO.

We thought about naming our daughter Lucy, but our fear was "what if she can't pull it off". 7 years later, we know she could have. She's spunky, confident, and funny as he**.

We settled on a traditional name (biblical). Traditional names are always safe, but if you and her mother are a little spunky yourselves it will rub off on your child so you can go a little out of the box.

About 20 years ago, there was a little blonde kid in the neighborhood who was a total firecracker. (Dennis the menace type) Personable as heck and just a funny little kid. His name was Fred.

I named my Golden retriever puppy after him a couple years later. (Old Freddie died 4 years ago)

Re: Need Help With A Boy Name!

My firstborn will have my Grandfather's name. My wife has already okayed it

Sometimes it's cool to name them after yourself too.

Say if your name was Karl, you could name him Karl Junior and call him KJ. Or if your name was Tim you could call him TJ....... Robert: RJ... etc...

Just so long as your name isn't Bob, or Bill

Nothing more basic, tough and rough than Ted

When the wife's mad at him, it's "Theodore "
When it's just you and him out fishing, it's "Ted "
And when he's giving his woman some good loving, it's "Oh Teddy "

So does mine

We didn't even have a name picked out when our son was born (we didn't know before hand what it was). The doctor looked at me and said "what's his name dad". Only thing I could think of at the time was Bryan. He says, junior? I says "no the II, I hate to hear a 45 year old man called junior, sounds too redneckish". The boy was 5 years old and had no hesitation to correct someone when they called him junior.
