The Mexican Walkout
Is this thing as big where you are as it is here in Denver? It's making the news everyday and in the paper every day. Local businesses are having to explain their policy of how they are going to deal with their workers not showing up. It's really annoying because businesses are having to walk on egg shells being politically correct in how they discuss the topic in fear of being accused of being racist or offensive.

Re: The Mexican Walkout
Ya they expect 300,000 plus marchers in downtown Chicago on Monday. The cops and local pols are doing back flips to accomodate them. They said they aren't going to wear riot gear, cause they expect no trouble! Saw a blurb on the news the other day that Cargill is closing all their plants on Monday, they admit that over 1/3 of their workers are illegals! Seems to me us Citizens better get are own marches together, before it's too late!

Re: The Mexican Walkout
I understand their intent, but what doesn't make sense, and I've heard it in the news but with no question to it is: The problem america (america used lightly since not all have a problem with it) has with the issue is with the "illegal" immigrants. The walkout is with immigrants in general. Sorta takes away from the point doesn't it? If you want to show us how we will be without "illegals" than why don't the "illegals" just stay home instead of the whole immigrant population. Doesn't really make sense to me, but if you're looking for a job it's a good day to do it. And there will be plenty of Red Bull on the 7-11 shelves that morning.

Re: The Mexican Walkout
I think its a bunch of bs. Unbelievable.
"We want full amnesty, full legalization for anybody who is here (illegally)," Rodriguez said. "That is the message that is going to be played out across the country on May 1." Yeah? Well I have some demands too. I want my driving record wiped clean. I want my health insurance premiums lower or I walk. I want that time my and my buddies caught some geese at the wildlife refuge and let them go in high school taken off of my "bad things Ive done" list. I want the price of fuel per gallon to be less than a #4 value meal at McDonalds. I want my neighbor to start pickin up his dog**** in his backyard everyday so when Im relaxing in my backyard I dont have to smell it. Maybe people will realize that America can survive without illegal immigrant labor. So your apples go up from $.79 a pound to .$89. Are you really going to notice? No. Everyone is worried about the price of fruit and vegetables going up but if its gas we "have to live with it".

Re: The Mexican Walkout
Illegals here don't habe a lot of luck getting jobs, since most won't hire without documnets. The Mexicans that are here legally and work the rigs in the oil patch will not walk off and the only whisper I heard about it was anyone walking will get to keep walking...since these jobs pay well...really well...I doubt these guys will risk loosing them over this idea of the national walkout. If any of my guys didn't show for anything like that, I would fire them...

Re: The Mexican Walkout
I'm with you...... LETS MARCH!!!!!!!!!!!! I like to have fun with comparisons so...... If a guy walked into my house uninvited and started dusting on top of the tv, bookshelves, and starting sweeping up under my cabinets, I'd appreciate what he's doing, sure, but I'd beat him senseless before I threw him outta my house head first.

Re: The Mexican WalkoutQuote:
My feelings exactly. I get out-raged at every newpaper article I read that quotes people saying how they have to stand up and protest the immigration laws trying to be passed in Congress. 1st words out of my mouth are WTF? If you are a legal immigrant why do you care? The laws are addressing illegal immigrants. You should want the illegals to be thrown out if you have nothing to fear yourself. Two things that really bother me are the kids they brain washed into marching last week on a school day, they showed these kids on the news and they don't have a clue what the issues were, they either joined in for a free day off of school, or joined in just to be part of something or a few actually believed in what they were doing, and those were kids brain washed by their hippy drop out parents. "Yeah, I didn't know what this was all about so I asked my mom and she told me how in her generations days they would always do marches and protests, so I thought it would be cool to do it too." I really think it is all going to back fire in their faces. They think it is going to prove a point of how much we all rely on immigrants here in the states, but the only thing I think it is going to prove is just how many illegals there are running around our streets! |

Re: The Mexican Walkout
We have to realize that these people are getting the attention of the lawmakers. They know that these are the people that are going to vote. What we have to do is come up with a way to show them that we dont want them here. And show them that WE WILL go out and vote for who we feel will deal with this problem the best way possible. Its all about getting the vote.

Re: The Mexican Walkout
Why is the government allowing any of this??? Once Illegals are in they are hard to find?? He11 I know where a few thousand are gonna be. Get the riot gear and a few hundred school buses and let’s start cleaning the house. Now they want to sign the anthem in Spanish? The day I am at a pistons game and they sign it in Spanish is the day I will not stand for our anthem. What would happen if we were to show up and zip tie a bunch of them and take them down to the nearest immigration office?

Re: The Mexican Walkout
I received this as an e-mail yesterday...
"WASHINGTON (AFP) Immigrants' rights advocates, elated by the resounding success of Monday's "National Day of Action," which drew the backing of hundreds of thousands of protesters across the United States, now are planning a national boycott which they hope will have an even greater resonance. Organizers are planning the May 1 "Great American Boycott," urging illegal immigrants -- who cannot vote and who have only limited political power -- to flex their economic muscle. Protesters are being urged to refrain from shopping, and to stay away from school and work. You should take a moment to let that sink in. This is a movement orchestrated by people who entered the US illegally, and then want to scream about their "rights." WHAT RIGHTS? YOU DON'T EVEN BELONG HERE! Let's take a look at some of the many benefits that illegal aliens have blessed our great country with: Street gangs, graffiti, drugs, skyrocketing healthcare, depreciation of property value, illiteracy. The list could go on. What they actually have to offer (cheap labor) pales to what they have given our country to deal with. I'll take expensive vegetables over expensive healthcare any day! And now, like terrorists, they are going to attack our economy -- the one entity that makes our nation stand out from all the others. The backbone of our nation. The country they came to like locusts so they could reap the benefits is now the focus of their boycott. You've seen it on TV: Marching on our American streets waving their Mexican flags, boldly showing that they can be more racist than who they accuse of, and yet the obvious is totally oblivious to them...... IF YOU'VE GOT IT SO BAD HERE, THEN LEAVE!!! To all the real Americans, you can do one small thing on May 1st, 2006. It won't be racist, nor will it be violent. It will not be boastful, arrogant, selfish, nor distasteful. It will not be any of those things that our "guests" have already displayed. What it will do is nullify a movement. All you have to do is buy something on May 1st. Make up for what they will try to take away. It doesn't have to be a new car or house (unless you were already planning on getting one). It simply needs to be a day of trading. Hold off grocery buying until May 1st. Take your wife out to eat that night. Get the kids pizza, hamburgers, whatever! Make several trips to the convenience store. Buy your meals at work. Fill up your tank. Shop for clothes, furniture, outdoor equipment- - -If it needs to be bought, BUY IT MAY 1st! Those are just a few suggestions. We're not asking you to spend your inheritance that day, but just to spend more than you normally would. Even if it's only a few dollars, this will help soften the blow that the Mexicans will try to inflict on our economy that day. It sounds trivial at first, but if this idea gets around, what the Mexicans set out to do will fail. NOW COMES THE HARD PART: This email will not self-destruct if you don't send it to someone. It will not cause bad luck, nor will it make you impotent. It will not do some trick or show a cute little animation if you send it to "X" amount of people. You will not get paid for doing it. It will not spread the message though, if it just gets deleted."

Re: The Mexican WalkoutQuote:
If politicians and bureaucrats are going to selectively enforce the rule of law the way they see fit, how can the governed be reaonably expected to abide by laws in any way other than selectively as they seem fit? See the problem that stems from selective enforcement of the law? Can it reasonably be argued that we don't have either enough or sufficiently comprehensive laws to govern the affairs of our nation? Does anyone doubt that there are thousands of perfectly adequate and appropriate laws that go unenforced each day and that by mere enforcement of such laws many of our societal woes would otherwise be mitigated? A govt. that unilaterally determines which laws are enforced (and which aren't) is neither dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal nor one of the people, by the people and for the people. Rather, it's a govt. on the fast track towards perishing from the earth. It happened in Rome, it'll happen here. Quote:

Re: The Mexican Walkout
Another thought for ya on the ignorance of the movement. Whether you buy your food on that day or not you still have to eat, drink, or whatever. Ya going back across the river to buy your groceries that you will consume that day? So what, you bought them last week. You still bought them Maricon.

Couple of other things - Colorado just tried to pass a state wide English only initiative. It would have made English the only official language on state documents, meaning no push 1 for English on state government agencies phones, no English and Spanish double documents... ect... got shot down 6-5.

Re: The Mexican Walkout
this topic really gets my blood boiling. the mainstream media doesn't help matters here in this country. The people who are here legally are fine. heck, they aren't even going to kick out the 12 million plus that are here illegally, they just want to stop so many more coming in illegally. and now all the hispanic population is up in arms. I hope they all lose their jobs.
better yet, maybe this is the way we can round all of them and truck them back to mexico. i'm all for letting the hard working ones in here LEGALLY, but the ones that try and cross the border, should be shot dead on site. i bet they'd stop coming across pretty fast if the border patrol started opening fire on them. This country is really headed down the wrong path, and it's really sad. everything has to be politically correct and no one wants to offend anyone, it makes me sick. bottom line is, if you come here, do it legally, if you want to live here, LEARN AND SPEAK ENGLISH!!! the fact that they are re-recording the National Anthem in spanish makes me sick! I'm sick of people feeling like they have to cater to these non english speaking people who are here to just take our money and go back to their own country. doesnt' matter what country you come from, legal or not, speak english, it's our language. all of my ancestors learned it and adapted to the american way of life. immigrants these days just want to spit on america. sorry for the rant, something has to be done to stop this. illegals cost this country 65 BILLION every year, whether it's healthcare or welfare or whatever, they are taking it out of our tax money, that is BS. build a big freaking wall. and start shooting them. if they want to come here, they better do the LEGAL way. \ one more thing, this boycott or walkout thing won't hurt the American economy one bit, how much money do you think these illegals spend in a day? not much. not like they are going out and buying 40k cars or 500k houses. |

Re: The Mexican Walkout
I thought most of the illegals were not spending much money here - except for basic necessities, but sending most of it back to Mexico or wherever. So what if they don't spend on Monday; I don't think it will affect the economy, and just maybe our national conciousness will be raised about this issue and see it for what it really is.

Re: The Mexican Walkout
Here's a novel idea - I think we shouldn't provide public services, sell anything or work illegals all of next week. No clinic visits, deny all food stamps presented without a proper ID, no bus service, tell them to stay home from work without pay. Let's just see who needs who, shall we?
