Low Carbs Anyone??

Has anyone tried the Low Carb thing. I'm usually running 20-25 lbs over this time of year and here I lost 10 since tnxgivin. I'm not hungry and I feel great. I have heard that the cholestrol can go up. Anyone have any problems or are you guys to young to worry about that stuff?

Re: Low Carbs Anyone??

My wife had gestational diabetes during the last pregnancy. So we had to cut the carbs down alot. I did it with her and I lost ten- fifteen pounds in a month. I gained the weight from drinking 64oz of Rockstars every day. The right there was alot of carbs from the sugar. Also ate less carbs at dinner time. It was a real noticeable lose of weight in a short time.

Re: Low Carbs Anyone??

I didnt cut them out but I reduced them considerably and started eating small meals about 6-7 times a day. Consisting of cold steak, cottage cheese, burger, appples, salads.. that sort of thing. I also quit drinking soda about 3 weeks ago and have lost aobut 15 pounds.

I have been put on a low carb diet by my diabeties educator. She also put me on an insulin pump The diets are not so bad if used as intended. I mean just cause steak has no carbs dosent mean it has on fat or chlorestrol. I also use a product called splenda. Believe it or not its aucually not so bad. Its not sugar but close enough.

More exercise combined with eating less works for me.

Ken, do a web search on Splenda. There are some folks who think it is some dangerous stuff.
I forbid my wife to give it to the kids.

IF you workout regularly and limit carbs, you'll be fine. The key is daily workouts!!!!!!

Yes, the chicks used to dig me too.

For a long time I was sure of a conspiracy, (probably republican), to adjust all the scales in the country 20 lbs. high. I was also sure someone was messing with the mirrors. Mirrors that used to make me look young and thin and handsome, were suddenly making me look old and fat and well... not quite so handsome.

Anyone with the same thoughts on this subject.

I don't know Scottsdale. When i wrestled, boxed, and worked out with the olympic Judo team we talked weight all the time. Not quite as much weight as I talk about now though.

Re: Low Carbs Anyone??

My bro in law tried the Adkins diet for a few years, he'd lose the weight and then it'd come right back.

I'm one of those that has a hard time holding weight, eating is not really something that I HAVE to do. The doc recently told me to lose 10#'s to get my chloresterol down and I dropped 16.

An article in today's paper stated the same thing that my mother has said for 50+ years; balanced diet, eat less and more exercise.

Rob, look into Red Rice Yeast for chloresterol. A customer gave me a bottle and I didn't use it until Mom said that her MD told her to take it. I just started, so the results won't be in for a while.

Re: Low Carbs Anyone??

This past year I've been able to lower my weight by over 30 bs. and take almost 4 in. off my waistline. Not sitting behind a desk stagnating my life away has made the biggest difference for me. Less to eat and more activity has done it for me.

Nobody ever accused a fat guy of busting his rump on a job (unless he fell down).

If you want something done in a hurry, assign it to the skinny bastard.
