Re: Live View Elon Musk Tesla Car In Space

This is just one of many experiments in processes for successfully colonizing Mars.

Reusable boosters will dramatically decrease cost of sending supplies and people to Mars.

A million person colony is his end game.

Jeez. How jaded we have become.

It is a huge deal. These days there isn't much to blow our minds. This blows my mind.

Just take it for what it is. A guy built a huge ass rocket and sent it into space. That in itself should be cool as sh!t.

Passive solar=warmth.

No clouds, so build a few greenhouse type domes and get warm.

Too much radiation exposure, as well.

Hmmm. They probably hadn't considered any of these challenges.
Better scrap the whole idea now.

They are reassessing the effects of protons on the human body. Apparently it's worse than they though, as they damage DNA when they pass through the body.

That's why he wants to set up a colony on Mars.
Humanity on Earth is doomed. Need a backup copy stored off site.

The car is on an angle on its mount so if the back of the craft is facing the sun it would create a shadow on the car.
I thought it was something like that as I did not see the car sitting on top of the rocket.

If they can get there folks will go. Once they get up there you can bet they will start mining for minerals, pm's and who knows what else. Might also be good place for prisoners, a prison planet where they are forced to work mining. I think there was a Arnold movie about this very thing.

It would be pretty spartan accommodations for at least several decades. Think of it. There's nothing there, plus we don't know what kind of microbes the place might harbor or anything else for that matter. It's pie in the sky

I know I'm not serious about a lot, but my wife and I have talked about it and if there's a sign up sheet for the manned mission to Mars, I'm going, provided the government supplies my family with a payout equal to my life's work.

How could you pass up the opportunity?

By, "I'm going" I mean that I'll volunteer. Whether they need a guy who's going to yammer incessantly, sneak booze on board, and make snide remarks at everyone's expense remains to be seen, but I'm pretty good with thinking on the fly, mechanical stuff, and I work cheap, so I guess we'll see.

Yeah duh it's a trap.

I don't care how long I'm there.

If I get to grasp Martian soil as I'm choking out my last breath then so be it.

This was a really big deal.
It was a stupid stunt, you can't repeat it into something meaningful. We've been putting payloads into space for a long time as I said before and apparently need to keep reminding you of. The publicity stunt was designed for the easily impressed.

That's been going on for a while now. You needed a car to get up to speed?
