Life Sucks

Just getting your attention.

I spent today with good friends fishing on our big pond. The weather was perfect and our Jr. angler hauled in his first sailfish. Dolphin (Mahi-mahi) helped in adding to the box as did an errant Cobia.

For you fishermen, the sail was legal but impaired. If you want to ask,do so.
The Dolphin were all schoolies in the 15-20# range or about the minimum that I would consider cleaning. The Cobia was about 40#s and the most fun catch of the day. The way that the sail hit, we thought that we had another. We dropped back and struck about 6 times before getting a liplock.

All in all a good day. Total expenses were about $175 and fresh fish for under $2.00#.

Sounds like a good day to me. Now all you need to do is start having those kind of days all the time instead of once in awhile. - ah... retirement...

Dam, sounds like alot of fun, around here we dont catch much over 5lbs very often unless night fishing for flat heads and using 4-6" blue gills for bait, but even then you can fish for 4 nights straight before getting a fish that you release anyways since they're coming from toxic river water and are'nt good for anything other than sport.

A couple we're freinds with just got back from a 5 day fishing trip in southern Iowa-missouri border and they landed 850 crappie/blue gills. The guy was still sore 3 days back from the trip from setting hooks LOL!! Funniest part was they took a neighbor with them since he's a die hard fisher too and I guess the 3rd day he stopped baiting and was just throwing a bare hook in the water since he was soo tired of cleaning fish

now just looking forward to the fish fry

Re: Life Sucks

I was out over the weekend fishing. Unlike Teetor, I don't have a boat, but we have a mile long bridge called Nassau Sound that we can fish from. It's pretty much where the ocean comes into the St. Johns River.

Anyway, I hooked into 3 nice sized jack crevalles, one dinner plate sized angel fish, and probably about 30 more angel fish that were the size of yoru hand. They're dang fun to catch, but only the big ones are worth keeping. The jacks fight like the dickens, but so do the little bitty angel fish. They swim in a circle when you pull 'em up so it feels like you've hooked something big. Other catches include a worthless lady fish about 28" in length, and about 10 rock bass, all too small to keep.

Anyway, we have loads of fun catching tons of fish, but we don't get all the GOOD eating fish that can be found offshore trolling. Someday......
