Kramer is way over the line here--it reminds me of the way most fist fights start these days--so racist and rude--he's lucky there was security presence around--and then his "apology" seemed so scripted and insincere....

I have no clue how this is going to play out.

what's his name from Taxi used to joke about white trash in Memphis during his wrestling skits. and that got people in a rage.
this is definately a step up from that. and this may be no joke at all.

Does a disrespectful person, talking in the audience during a performance, deserve continued respect from the entertainer? If you act disrespectfully, the entertainer may treat you with respect anyhow. Don't be surprised if they don't. If you act disrespectfully, you forfeit your privilege to be treated respectfully.

I am curious what the hecklers were saying?? Not that it is an excuse for doing what he did but it may have infuriated him to say what he did?

I think the kramer guy just wanted to hurt their feelings and he used something he knew would sting them and make them feel disrespected like he felt.

It never ceases too amaze me how many people care so much about the lives of "celebrities". Personally, I couldn't care less about the goings on in Michael Richards' life; or that of Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson, Barabara Streisand, Sly Stalone, etc. Humanity will miss them little more than it will I (if even that) once they leave planet earth.

I'm curious as to why he's doing standup at all. If I recall properly, one of the reasons that Seinfeld was canceled was because of the fantastic salaries. I believe that Richards was making $600K per episode, does he really need to work?

Who knows, maybe he does. Either for the money or for the attention. I know people who have great cash flows, but have to have constant work. Miss a job or two and they are hurting. I think of them as poor rich folks. One in particular grew up poor and has had a roofing company for several years now. Due to showboating it, the whole family being spoiled and doing drugs (whole family) he is not in a good finacial situation. I consider him a poor boy with money.
And by the way, going to make fun of a particular race to that extreme? You had better be a member of that race. Actually this applies more to one race than any of the others it seems. If Pryor or someone like that had done this, money would have been thrown at him for another performance of his hilarious comedy act.
But Richards apology was worded and conveyed in a manner that seems to indicate he does have some problems even making an apology.

That being said, I feel anyone in business needs to be prepared to go to some extreme to avoid any type argument with a client whether an individual or an audience unless you do not want to do business with them anymore.
I hope my post does not come across as racist. Just an observation on my part.

Funny how calling a spade a spade can be construed as rascist.
We can not touch upon the roots of problems because of political correctness.
We live in a fantasy world where we are all involved in a group hug and love eachother. Shyte...the damned north and south still can't get along...This playing in life is getting old. Nothing will ever change unless the "real" problems can be addressed.
