KINDLE - Kinda' Like An Ipod For Books/mags/newspapers

I just ordered one today, kinda hyped about it.... I think it's the wave of the future...and I like it (at least the idea of it)

http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-Amazons...pf_rd_i=507846

Anyone have any experience with one or know someone with one?

And really, with the way the economy/business is, I shouldn't...but, I've wanted one of these mofo's for a year or so and haven't pulled the trigger (not like me)....and now the new version is out....I feel like I'm waitin' on my next crack delivery...can't get here soon enough...

just askin'

They do look awesome - the only catch for me, is that I like turning the pages of a real book or magazine. One day though I will definitely be giving it a try

I like the feeling of a book/newspaper etc, too...but time will move on...I already told swmbo not to bitch at me when I drop it in the toilet for the morning "library" visit...it will happen...

You're kidding, right? We pay hundreds to get these huge screens we are right now typing in front of, and a diminutive little 6" diagonal screen is supposed to make us go ga ga?

And you still have to pay $10 a book?

Give me a $20 a year subscription to something that will let me read on my big screen... if I just have to read electronically.

My wife wants one really bad... I keep telling her that pda's have been doing this for years (not quite all the features the exact same way) But she wants the kindle... Some day soon I will get it for her.

Post a review after you get it, I'm really interested, I'm worried about durability and theft, it would also be great to load up code books in pdf format.

Haven't read the specs (maybe I have)...hence the red ??? ....when I get it, can you tell me how I will like it too?

My, you have a very big screen, but I'm sure you hear that often...

I like to "feel" the book also!
Thought this was interesting though.

Re: KINDLE - Kinda' Like An Ipod For Books/mags/newspapers

one part that interests me is all the free content (has no bearing on my reasons for buying), but just as a juxtaposition to those who are posting regarding costs...

http://www.amazon.com/s/qid=12360459...011&sort=price

anyone who owns one?!? or know someone who owns one? just curious...

My eyes get tired from reading on the computer screen. When I read the paper or a magazine it is much easier on them.

Re: KINDLE - Kinda' Like An Ipod For Books/mags/newspapers

I have seen the sony on display at target and the screen is cool I thought it was just a non working display with some stuff printed on plastic... I was quite shocked when I saw it was a working display. And I have heard rumors that the kindle screen is better than the one on the sony. Stop by a target and take a look at the sony, its not the same but its a good way to get a feel for the idea.
