I saw Iron Maiden once in concert as before your list can now merge on to mine. Awesome selections.

LOVE Jackyl saw them twice and Jesse James Dupree and his new band.

Once?

ONCE?!?!

I've seen them over a hundred. They are my grateful dead.

And Jackyl...I have very few regrets in life. One is never seeing them live.

That's AWESOME! "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" is the one I was lucky to see.

Well I was in 4th or 5th grade when I fell in love with Anni-frid and Agnetha and couldn't shake the quality sound of their voices.

Not much different contrast for a head banger like me to like them then head bangin' musicians liking Bach or Chopin etc

I was wonderin' if anyone would notice that.

They fit in the "12 y/o boy in 1978 just discovered hot 13 y/o girls hang out at the roller rink" file.

Ok I don't have time to list all my favorites right now. That would take a while. But I have to say, as I'm sitting here looking at what you guys listen to, What a bunch of head hangers. I like a little hard stuff myself but you cant discount the roots that made R&R what it is today.

As for country music, and I'm not referring to the sappy woossie crap they are trying to pass off as country (Tina Mcgraw, Kimmy Chesney, etc.)

Chris, try some Shooter Jennings. I like his take on the way the country music trend is going today. I suggest the album....er, CD "Put the "O" back in Country" (think about that title for a second)

And I can't bring up Shooter without an honorable mention to his father, Waylon and other influential artists from the same 'Outlaw Ara', , Willie, Hank Jr, Sr, and the 3rd, David Allan Coe, Billy Joe Shaver, Charlie Daniels, Johnny Paycheck, and the list goes on.

Not that I'm all about country music, I'm a rocker at heart and a blues man by trade (Other than construction) I love it all. Slipknot to Ray Price. Abba to ZZ Top. Everything but (c) rap. And yes, Colt Ford is rap.

All right boys, let the feathers fly.

Oh, and thank you Chainsaw Charlie for the SRV mention.

No Johnny Cash? Boy named Sue? Folsom Prison? Cocaine Blues?

Johnny is the man.

Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Del Reeves, Steve Earle.

Metallica, Black Sabbath/Ozzy, AC/DC, Buckcherry, Danko Jones, G n R, Green Jelly, Rage, System of a Down, White/Rob Zombie.

NWA, 2 Pac, Warren G, Eminem, Ghetto Boyz, Ludacris.

DJ Czech, Paul Oakenfold, Bomfunk MC's, Daft Punk, Freestylers, Enigma.

The list goes on and on.

I have no idea where to begin.....Johnny Horton, Jim Reeves, Tommy Cash, Johnny Cash, Merle, Waylon, Willie, Kris, Abba, Tommy James,................Way too many to name.

Not too keen on the hard stuff,(I do Like a few songs) and can't stomach rap.

I saw Zappa in concert, late 70s in Germany..........don't remember much else about that concert...lol

Re: Just For Fun Musical Favs

Jim you are about as well rounded as it gets when it comes to music. (Except for Ray maybe)

As for Mr. Cash, The rumor in this neck of the woods is that John has some kinfolk buried in Oakland Baptist Church cemetery about 2 miles from my house. Back in the late 60's he came through and visited the grave sites and ate supper with Mr Gene Rivers who was supposedly kin to the ones that Johnny had come to see.

The story goes that Mr. Rivers brought out a big country ham and cut a chunk off for Johnny who ate it and said that was the best ham he'd ever had and he would love to take one back to Nashville with him when he left.

Mr. Rivers, who had raised the hog, cured the ham and put up the meat in his smoke house said, "You can eat all you want while your here, But I'll be damned if your going to drag one off with you when you leave."

True story?? I can't say. But I will guarantee that Mr. Gene Rivers won't give up a country ham no matter who you are.
