I think your decision to close that thread is quite appalling.

Here's why - for 3 pages folks (including your moderators) have stated borderline racist and racist statements. You had no reason then to close the thread.

When someone calls them out on that and the discussion gets a little heated - you then decide to cloese the thread.

The topic is called "Off topic (Non Trade) is it not?

I think closing it is a slap in the face to all of those that have fought to protect our freedom's (I would suspect that everyone agrees). As a internet website provider/moderator you shold not have the hand of a God to stop discussion unless it is illegal or does not abide by the rules of the forum - period. Sorry the internet is public domain.

I have read alot more offensive things in other threads - than what was posted in the 'immigrant thread'.

For the reocrd I have logical and reasonable responses to every thing that was mentioned in response to me. Open the thread and let the discussion continue. Or delete this thread as well. Do as you please.

By the way A-1 Carpenter - your claim that we bought the land from Native American's is one of the most asinine things I have ever heard in my life and completly false in every possible way. Keep talking b/c it is great humor.

Calling out the Admin of a private forum is not a good thing. Nathan can do whatever he wants with this place. If you do not agree, that is fine, but don't start a thread about it. At least PM him and discuss it with him.

Why thank you. All I can say is that your comments were one of the many reasons that I closed the thread... not the only one

First, I was not following that thread in sequence and had no idea who was arguing with who... I just read some comments that were over the line and closed it.
Second, there were several people who made comments that I didn't think fell in line with the rules of this site. Why did I not close the thread before? Because this is the first time I read it. I work a full time job, have a family, and after I get the kids down I try to find some time to read through SOME of the posts and make improvements to this site.
I have a dream of making this site my full time job some day but right now it is just a hobby and it is naive to think I read the 100's of posts that happen on this site every day. I depend on people who see a problem to alert me by using the button, which is what happened this time.


We have stated several times that we do not allow political threads to take place in the off topic area. We do allow some political threads but only when they directly relate to the topic of contracting and only when they do not get out of hand. This one got out of hand in my opinion. But you can't make everyone happy as displayed in this thread.
I highly doubt that everyone agrees with you but but I could be wrong and your free to believe what you wish. That's what makes this country great and that's one of the many reasons I respect our military so much. They are the ones that make the freedom possible.
Sorry, but this site is not public domain. I own it and I run it as fairly as I can. Without rules we have chaos. As stated before we do have rules against political discussions although I will admit that I need to make them clearer. I'll put that on my huge to do list.

You are free to delete your messages if you wish. Also, you may want to find one of the many political discussion forums out there. This forum is about bringing the trades together not tearing them apart.

Bottom line, you are free to disagree with each other and of course we all will from time to time, but it has to be done with respect.

dsnAK: I'd be happy to discuss this with you further if you wish. I do think however that it would be better if we discussed this via Private Message instead. Specific problems with specific people are usually handled best that way... Thanks.

I can respect Nathan's position and contributions as well. For that reason I will not continue the discussion and will send him a PM with some constructive thoughts.

My intent was to question why, and he answered that question. I may or may not agree; but I respect his position and wishes.

A great thing about our society is we can all disagree - and as a rule I never instigate these political discussions; but when I read something that is insulting or false it is my nature to call some one on it. I can not let things slide and that thread contained some pretty insulting things to some people.

I have gained immense knowledge from a few in the equipment (excavation) forum and I am very grateful for that.

Thanks for that. I know Nathan has spent more time than imaginable setting up this business. His goal like everyone else's is to make money and support his family and I wish him luck.

Yeah, I am on a mod on a car forum with 40,000 members mainly containing kids ranging from 16 - 25. It feels like I am babysitting 5 yr olds.
