How Vehicle Lettering IS Done..........

The topic and discussion of Lettering and Graphics is a fairly common here on CT.

I believe that this is the sort of style and design that works best.

This is a "Coffee Tawk" discussion so lets express ourselves before I get all ferklempt!

Red vans look like they are driving faster and are more noticable to Police

Discuss amongst yourselves.......

Not to burst your bubble. (Like that is even possible) But there are at least 2 things that stand out.

First, I showed the picture to my 15 year old son and asked him to tell me the name of the company. He could not. Said: "JB something"

Second why do you have your phone number twice on the same side of the vehicle? Did your sign guy get paid by the letter?

It is just me, but it is very busy, hard to make out exactly why I should call you. Too many colors, graphics are a little cheesy IMHO.

Looks like your 15 year old customer base can go out the window Malco!
I think it is very clear. JB. it says right on the side of the truck what you do....but since it is red it seems to be going faster so may be hard to read....

Ha! That is funny.
However except for the additional cost, I do not see alot wrong with it.

Good point for some customers. A nice catchy slogan or something would be nice.
However I can tell you that most people who have had Pavers come over to do work will rememmber what they were driving, and just may call you just because you seem clean and do good work if your Van looks that good.
Looks like you deal in high end clients who do not care about lowballers. I am guessing....

Too many colors
Another good point. With the background, flame (?) , and lettering I can see why you used so much to contrast each other.
Perhaps something more simple would have been easier on the eyes. When people drive they do not want to struggle with ads, they have about a 5 second attention span and your rig is so interesting it may keep them too occupied to get hit hard with your point. Whatever your point is....

I have seen worse.
All in all I would say your still in good shape.
If you get the chance to do it again I would recommend 2 things..

Make a statement with something like a slogan or something memerable people can absorb quickly
and
less is more for ads on Vans.

Still..I would love to see a contractor show up in that, wearing decent clothes, and work hard. I would pay for that.

It is NOT my Truck!!!

This is MY truck.

Where I come from, we keep it simple on the outside whilst Kostabis, Picassos, Swarovski, Wedgewood and Tiffany adorn our lives BEHIND closed doors.

I was just posting a catchy, yet tacky, BUT somewhat unforgettable way of announcing your Business. It works EXTREMELY well!

The reason for the "Double Number" is THE LAW in NYC for a Commercial vehicle. Business must have a Name, Address, Phone on the Doors and it is NEVER big enough for advertising purposes.

As for my Vehicle.........................Haverford, PA..........

Point taken!

In another life I installed graphics. But that was back when I was only using solid colored vinyl.

I didn't miss the name, my point with my son was that when you drive by, the last thing that gets picked up is your name.
Perhaps a little larger in proportion to the rest could have been better.

Plus I am just messing wit ya. All in all a good looking rig.

Looks very good to me. As far as the name recognition, this is what I think!

By any other name would smell as sweet."

Re: How Vehicle Lettering IS Done..........

Too much BS. I know I'd be paying for that van and not any kind of service. Also, nothing ties into anything else. Why a flame pattern? Because they work fast or are they too fast? Whats with the assanine little truck on the bottom? What is it's purpose? All that mumbo jumbo and like others have said, where the heck is the name? The name should be the biggest part of the sign.

Incorrect. Only the stupid ones. Our showroom is very sweet. My clothes are high end. I drive up in a nice rig to measure the home. I have high end products.
The "sizzle" is necessary with the high end clients I work with. The Home Depot customers walk in....look around...and run out the door when they see a guy with a nice suit walk up to them.
This saves me time....Allows me to cater to the folks who demand high quality.

I could not disagree any more....
But I still love your pics CDAT
good stuff!

Re: How Vehicle Lettering IS Done..........

I stand corrected. I work with people of lesser means. I cringe when I see a 'suit' walk up to me to ask if I'm interested in something only to find out he's a salesman only and hasn't a clue on the details.

Just a photo I had come across and saw a future use for.

I have 11,000 + photos on 1 of my 4 HD's. 75% of which I took. I enjoy images.
