How much does it cost for

Now that I have your attention

How much does it cost in your neck of the woods to go to the movies? Some good flicks coming out. Costs 12 bucks here. I live an hour away from the nearest movie theater, so I download them from torrents [yes I know, people shouldn't do that stuff] and watch them. Glad I do too, since some are crap and am happy I didn't pay to see some of them.
Even the early shows cost 10 bucks to see. No deal there. At least for me cause I live so far away from the theaters. Such is the life here in the country.

Don't get me wrong. I love going to the movies, and if I am in the city and there is something I want to see I will pay for it, just 12 bucks and a fortune for soda and a few kernels of popcorn, people texting on their phones, talking loud throughout the movie is too much for me at times for a questonable movie. Like the movie Avatar that is coming out. Want to see that, but not for 12 bucks. Prolly will download that one torrents to watch.

Went to the theatre just a few nights ago.
If we all had to pay (wife got 2 adult passes from the radio station) it would have been $30 for the 4 of us, 2 adults $8 ea, 2 kids (2 and 4)$6 ea.

$3.50 for a large drink
$5.50 for large popcorn

I see you are from Canada. So is the usual price in your area $8? Don't know what $8 Canadian translates to American.

I'm talking about torrents like piratebay or demoniod, mininova etc., where you can download movies the day they are released in the theaters on their sites.

Been doing that for many years. I am a cheap bastard! But like I said, I live an hour away from the nearest theater so that's why I do it.

Was my first time to the theater in a few years, guess it's the usual price.

$8 CAD = @ $7.44 USD.

I confess, I download too. but i havent downloaded a movie in awhile. i hate drama and abhor the current generation of action, sci fi and horror. Most of what i see advertised i wouldn't bother to see in a movie theater even if it were free and I was chauffeured there as i napped. Movies are no longer marketed to the baby boom generation.

For $90 in Long Island you might be able to get a large pizza and a 2 liter coke.

Maybe just 1 liter depending on if this Nassau or Suffolk county.

Because this is a general discussion about the price of movies, not an off topic discussion about thimbles, wart removal or techniques on Hungarian basket weaving, Mr. Joe Moderator.
And since you have been a member here for a while, in case you haven't noticed, nearly every topic on this board no matter the forum tends to go off topic.

Sorry. So if I need to ask a question about electrical, I should post something about making home-made ice cream in the off-topic section?

I guess CT is the 'infinite number of monkeys banging away at an infinite number of typewriters for an infinite amount of time'. Eventually, we'll write all the great classics.

Going OT is one thing...... starting out OT is quite another.

That makes absolutely no sense what so ever.

However, 8 bucks is a great price for a movie.
