How Many Is Too Many?

Hey guys as a smoker, I was wondering how many ciggs. do you allow a person to "bum" from you before you tell them to buy their own..LOL Just a thought? I have this guy at work that seems to not be able to buy his own ciggs. I even see him bumming them from people of other trades??????

Re: How Many Is Too Many?

Depends on who it is. If it's someone I've worked with before, and they just ran out, I'll pass on a square, gratis. If it's some FNG who doesn't have the money to buy his own or was too lazy (or tardy) to stop and buy his own on the way to the job, zero, none.
I smoke those American Spirits and they go off out here at $5 plus per pack. So there's no giving away on those.
Time to quit for all of though boys. Damn bad habit.

I agree^^, fill it and put it back in your pack upside down, but you have to put 3 in real deep and at the same depth.

My Grandfather use to have a wooden cigar box that was packed full of his cheap cigars with a plastic tips. The thing was 8"x8" so I would assume it held around 250 cigars. I put one of those exploding things in one of his cigars and not only did it scare the heck out of him, he was so scared that I placed them in his other cigars he threw them all out. I've never seen a grown man so upset over a little joke.

I know the smokers don't want to hear this, but it ain't that hard to quit. Chantix does work...and then just fire all the smokers you have employed...no temptation!

I ran a smoker off the job today (doing a gravel walkway at my home). Boy was she pissed. I'll probably have to cook my own dinner tonight.

Re: How Many Is Too Many?

I smopked for years, btw. American Spirit non-filtered-THAT is a cigarette.

I quit cold turkey. No drugs, nothing. It was the day I went for my first mountain bike ride 14 years ago. Cured me on the spot, and haven't smoked since.

Other than the occasional cigar.

I don't hire smokers, I can't stand someone I'm working with to be billowing smoke all over me and everyone else.

Re: How Many Is Too Many?

I quit smoking a few years ago and before that a few smokes could be bummed from me. If it was daily though i would tell them to buy some smokes before they blow the rest of the check on their lotto tickets 12 packs and crack.
I mean come on if they are working for you, or with you then you know what they make. If they can not buy their own smokes then they have bigger vices or they are just mooches.

I will give a guy a cigarette. But i don't have anyone who always ask. Tell the guy to buy some top. That stuff is only like 1.50. Roll your own tobacco.

Chantix...yeah sure...I wanna quit smoking so I'll take a drug that increases thoughts of suicide....THAT'll make me quit for sure!!!! Bumming: after a few tell him to get his own, they aren't exactly cheap these days. Yes I should quit smoking. I should also not bash someones head in ....I'll choose the lesser of two evils.

Talk to your doctor about it...the only side effect I suffered were the vivid dreams. A physician
we did some work for and I were talking about the quitting game....he isn't my doctor, but he basically convinced me to not even give in to the urges.....he said he prescribes a combination of Wellbutrin and Chantix...and he claims a near 100% success rate.

I lost my mom a few years ago...lifetime smoker. Nothing like the helpless feeling of watching someone you love suffocate and die (COPD, and small cell carcinoma)...simply over the desire to keep up an expensive habit.....my on and off quitting for a year left me with a lasting impression of how bad they really smell....and how much it costs me, not just my health.

I still want a smoke...but for me, it is avoiding people who smoke......at least it was...it doesn't seem to affect me now...that I look at it objectively. As far as these prescriptions have came, there isn't anyone who can't quit of they really want to.

Re: How Many Is Too Many?

Joasis, there in lies the problem, you have to have the desire to quit. Right now, I have no desire. The old lady quit using Chantix, only to start again 4 months later. I was a good supporter, I only smoked while working, and then went out side while I was at home.
