How Do You Impress The Women???

I, as well as most, have a large tool collection and alot of money invested in them. There's tools that I just grab and plug in while looking for something to do with them just because I like em that much. But whenever a girlfriend, wife included, would plunder and start wanting to see what all these tools do, they are never impressed with what I think are the most impressive tools. So far I have to say the tool that has really gotten their attention and made them think, "man what a great invention", is the simplest of all. The chalk line. And this tool has done it on more than two occasions. What's up with that?
Have your women ever sunk their hands in your toolbox? If so, which one did they fondle most?
Bob,,,,,,,,, get it out of your head, these are mechanical tools.

Probably the Dremel
Though the laser level has been a recent fave
The teen (...almost a woman) seems to love the sanders
Especially the P-C 6 in. vari
I've actually hired her a few times for prep work sanding

Re: How Do You Impress The Women???

Most of my female customers are "impressed" by my DeWalt 18volt drill. Most of them have the ElCheepo Black & Declker or Ryobi drills that they or their husbands bought. When they see mine turn a 4" screw or 6" hole saw or 1 1/2" spade bit they are amazed. They always say that theirs could never do that. I explain to them that that's why they paid $49 for theirs and I paid $200 for mine. A couple have even when out and bought one.

A router has impressed a few too, with all it can to do take a piece of wood and turn it into a matching piece of trim, repair piece for furniture, ornamental decoration, or other needed piece.

Even with the most detailed bit, and a clear explanation of "sealed bearings" the simple and cheap ol chalk box beat my router setup right back into the box. Man I was tooling with the wrong girls.

Ok... I just gotta ask... Why are you wanting to impress females with tools in the first place? hahaha

I'm not being sarcastic, it's an honest question. I guess I'm just confused..out of all the ways you could impress women..why with tools?

Re: How Do You Impress The Women???

Just a joking header.
Since I have always had stacks of tools laying around I have always had girlfriends interested in them and had to go through the pile explaining what each of them do. Not a fact of me showing them what I got, but more that they were interested in seeing why I needed so much stuff, and what they all do. Just thought I was onto some kind of Freudian theory noticing that they all swayed interest toward such a simple tool when there are so many complex one's to choose from.

Yeah I thought the same thing from the title
But I looked looked further:

That's how I read it, more like "...what impresses the women"
What are they "borrowing" from your tool box, what makes them say "...cool beans"

Mine like tools so she can appreciate the weird ones
The teen's favorite class in H.S. is wood shop
Unfortunately they don't offer any at the new school

So she's more psyched at helping me (which for a teen means " < shrug > ...I guess..." now that's excitement!)

My 5 year old daughter stays locked to my ankle whenever I'm working and wants to be a carpenter allready. She loves it and picks up pretty quick. Allready can layout a simple wall that doesn't include doors or windows. My drywall buddy wants to take her home, breaks hit on the money every time.

Re: How Do You Impress The Women???

I've got a "special tool" for "laying pipe" that the ladies all seem to like??

Seriously though, I think tools are a guy fetish unless the gal is in the biz and understands what everything is for. My wife is no more impressed with all my junk that makes my buddies sport wood when the van door opens, just as I'm not impressed with all her latest things she buys female realted for her job/hobbies.

Re: How Do You Impress The Women???

Mrs. Ron loves to do little gardening projects and has her own cute little girly tools, the kind you find on sale at WalMart. But she's always amazed when I pull out my Fat Max tape measure and extend it 11 or 12 feet without it flopping. Hers is a 16 ft. no name tape and she wonders why anyone would need a heavy duty one like mine!!

I had a feeling as to where this would wind up, let's not go overboard on innuendo.
