The photo with the extinguisher pictured was strictly for "Insurance Claim Purposes"!

To prove that an "attempt to contain" fire was made!

Afterall.................Who would try to contain a fire that was deliberately set in order to collect the Insurance???

Most farmers around here buy new machines with cash. Combines are fire hazards from day one. Seems every year or two, we get one in the news like this, but they tend to touch off a field fire and burn 2-20 acres before the fire dept shows up.

When you think of a combine, everything going thru them is DRY. Dust, and crop debris tend to build up in out of the way areas. All it takes is spark from a battery, heat built up from a slipping rubber belt, or even a spark from cigarette can start a fire like this. Todays combines are even worse compared to the older machines. The old machines tended to be more metal. Newer machines have plastic instead of sheet metal. More rubber hoses than the old machines with steel lines.
