How Bad Is The Economy $9000 Play Station 3s?

Today the highest selling point for the new play station 3s on ebay hit 9 grand. How can somebody spend that kind of money on something they will be selling in a garage sale next year in the 25 cent box?

It's becuase wew live it a unstant gratification world, not to mention a work with foks that have more money than sense. It's a sad connebtary when folks get almost trampled to death while racing toward the newest toy on the market, Just affirms my ideal that life as we know it is either gone or fading rapidly.

We were at BestBuy Wednesday night and saw a bunch of people camping out we didn't know what for at the time. I heard about the playstaition thing Thursday on the radio and thought what a bunch of idiots. Then I heard the resell on E-bay and thought man that just might be worth it, maybe they're not quite so stupid after all.

A lot of people are just stupid!

On the radio today: A guy figured that a lot of people standing in line must have money. One guy (potential customer) shot.

Bunch of guys running towards the store, one didn't see a flagpole, unconcious.

A driveby BB gun incident at a waiting line.

If you know the history of Rome, then you know that America is traveling right down the same path. Probably a little faster than Rome did.

It is a shameful world we live in. There are alot of kids out there that would love to have that system and greedy people like this have to snatch them all up and sell them for a 500% profit.

Re: How Bad Is The Economy $9000 Play Station 3s?

I heard on the radio yesterday that some college kid paid some homeless people $100 a day to camp out, he even fed them everyday. This way he didn't have to get cold, or take the chance of getting robbed, or shot. I wonder if that counted towards the employment rate?

We are definetly heading down the same road as Rome. I heard a preacher say one time that if God doesn't do something about America soon He's going to have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorah. Sad but true. What is really sad is that people refuse to see it.

No. The United States is institutionally incapable of running an Roman like empire or even being an effective world policeman. Our military interventions will always be inconclusive, inconsistent and hypocritical.

In our constitutional government, foreign policy is not made by a few elites as it was in the British or Roman Empires. In England, the emperialism was limited to property owners and a few percentage points of the population. Both Britain and Rome had a single, all-powerful legislature.

For America, the written Constitution, and even more so, the Bill of Rights (neither of which constrained the British nor Roman governments) are designed specifically for preserving freedom. This is done by dispersing the centralization of political power necessary for foreign military ventures. You cannot cherry pick elements of the past Roman Empire to support the (rather political) assertion that America is the new Rome. It is very easy to nod your head like some bobble head figure when people make such comparisons on a limited factual basis.

I wouldn't even pay store price for a play station 3 let alone the prices they are going for on e-bay and in the local paper. I have better things to do with 400-600 dollars than go waste it on a game system. I have the ps2 and that works good enough for me. My seven year old wanted one for christmas and I told him if he ever wanted one he would work for it and buy it himself. The wife says i'm so tight you could stick a piece of coal up my butt and it would come out a diamond LOL.

Re: How Bad Is The Economy $9000 Play Station 3s?

I don't know if it makes me tight or smart, but the times I have purchased PC video games I always would wait to buy them after they dropped from thier new release price of $50.00 to a few months later to $19.95. I mean it doesn't take a genius to see the pattern. Game comes out- $50.00, months later after the next hot game replaces it $19.95, the 19.95 game is still the same game as it was at $50.00, just cheaper now.

It's one thing to spend $600 bucks on one of these new systems if that is the retail price, but to pay 2000, 4000, 9000 bucks for one when you know it is a temporary price bump and in 6 months they will be in on sale at Target, I mean, what the hell?

Just think of the good you could do with that $9000. I mean look at the homeless situation and with winter coming up you know the time is coming for the homeless to suffer when they won't come out of the cold, with $9000 you could buy a lot of hookers and distrubute them out to homeless people for a night to keep them warm.

Re: How Bad Is The Economy $9000 Play Station 3s?

No one is satisfied with what they have. i.e--always want more, always want the best, something better, something bigger, the latest- greatest, what someone else has.......

I'm fine with not buying something when just released. When we bought a camcorder and the latest ones out were dvd, we got a mini dv. Just bought a PS2 last year, just bought a digital camera last week. I'm keeping my used truck, car, and van for years--no way am I going to take on another payment right away. I guess part of it is that I cant stand being trendy, just because. I'm ok with letting others deal with the hassle and cost of upgrading everything they own every year or two...I'm ok with less stress and more money

Oh, ps-the playstation thing is simply a tangible way to see how compromised our morals and lifestyles have become

I just checked, and most of them are selling in the 900-1000 range now. That's pretty much on par with the hot electronic items of seasons past. It's simple guns and butter, neither moral or immoral.

Dropping like rocks! Last night when I checked they were just breaking $1900.00.

Wonder what the you feel like knowing you bought one at at breakfast yesterday for $6000.00 and by dinner that night you could buy them for $2000. I guess junior got bragging rights Friday in school for the $4000 difference.

The news said this morning one went for 30K.

People have this issue of wanting to know they were in that first group of people to own one. Even if it means paying 1000s over actual value. Me... I rather invest in some new ladders & maybe a treat at Wendys if I had the money to blow.

Look at someone like Peyton Manning. Between the gigantic pile the Colts are happy to pay him and all of the TV commercials he's in, money is just meaningless numbers on a financial report to him. He's long since reached the point of having more of it than he'll ever need. However, what he doesn't have any more of than us is time. Relatively speaking $30,000 (to avoid having to wait in line) is chump change to him and he might as well spend it if his kid deserves the toy rather than leaving the money sitting in the bank.

In my case I was furious when I dropped $300 on the first Xbox only to have it drop to $200 six months after it came out.

I talked with these kids in line outside our WalMart. They are entreprenuers....gotta give them credit!! Better than sitting on their ass waiting for a government handout.
If some joker wants to buy it then they should make it...That is capitalism at it's best.
I was proud of those college kids I met

Btw, there is a one unit per person rule.
