Holidays

This is a lazy state. We have 15. Today is one.

Admission day. They're touting it ass the 50th anniversary, yet we were admitted to the Evil Empire in 1959. By my math, that would make it...

I think the legislation was passed in '58,
didn't go into effect til '59.
I think the flag lobby (they were still
made in USA back then) didn't want
two stars the same year (Alaska was '58).

If you guys wanna quit it's okay with me...
I've still got the 48 and 49 star flags
just in case it doesn't work out!

Re: Holidays

I've still got a 48 somewhere. I'm not Hawaiian. I was just being sarcastic with my Evil Empire (of which, I am a full fledged member) comment.

There's a big sovereignty movement here. Bad idea, IMO. If Hawaii ever became independent, it wouldn't be long before they were part of China/Japan.

Yes, about as sane as Parti Quebecois.....
I think they still want to secede from Canada
after 40 odd years of failure.

Re: Holidays

Problem with Quebec seperating, they would demand a number of financial concessions that the Federal gov't would throw in.

Could you imagine needing a passport to travel from Ontario to New Brunswick? All cause you are passing through a foriegn country, then again they would charge a fee if your plates read Ontario, just because they can.

The last referendum about 6 or 8 years ago was really close, they will try again in the future. Funny part is once they fail on their own the will be begging to be back into Canada...and the Fed's will bend over and let them in.

I am allowed to say this on a public forum?
