Hockey Tourney In Boston This Week,where...

...should I take my wife to sight see? Any good pubs to meet locals? Restaurants etc. If any of you guys know Boston please let me know the spots around the Sheraton Hotel in Milford. We are travelling in about a 30 mile radius to the rinks . the Chowder Cup tournament is for Junior A players 16-20 years old, it goes Wednesday to Sunday and gives the boys a chance to be seen by scouts from NCAA schools.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Rob

Milford puts you out about 45-60 minutes without traffic. You will be stuck with the hotels pub and no site seeing.

If you have time when you are in town check out the "duck tours". It is a tour of the city streets and the Charles river on one of the old landing boat/trucks from WWII. Check out the Black Rose for great food including my favorite chowder. Stay away from "Legal Seafoods" unless you have a very large food budget. A trip to the top of the Prudential building gives you an elevated view of the city.

Yeah, you're a way's away from Boston, not too bad, but depending on the time of day, traffic obviously.

I know where I was just working in Waltham there's the main drag chock full of restaurants now. Moody Street it's called. Still a way's off for you.

Boston, you better bring some money. We got some soft serve ice cream there a few weeks back for 8.00 a cone.

Then you got Cheers of course. There's two of them just so you know. The real one is downtown I believe. Dougchips would know more than me on that one I believe.

The original Cheers is north or the Theater district which is west of the financial district, I have never been to it. Parking is a nightmare and the garages charge $20ish for enough time to eat a meal. Generally I will get a commercial parking spot which has a time limit. Faneuil Hall has shops, the Comedy Connection and more bars surrounding it then you could visit in a week.

You might want to learn a few key phrases of the language, that'll help
It's "Chowdah" and "Hawkey"
And "Checkt Wicket Hahd" and "Shawt-haynded"

Prolly Faneuil Hall would be a good stop for a tourist with limited time
Cheers bar is a classic stop

You'll be down off route 495..exit 17, 18 or 19 I think...best way in is 495 north to route 90 east(mass pike).
best bet is to do the "Park and ride" at the Wellesley or Newton MBTA green line, driving in boston is rediculously slow and parking is robbery.

i really appreciate you taking your own time to reply.

It looks like Duck boats and maybe a walk around with $20 parking or maybe the transit. The theatre district most likely and yea, Cheers.

I will have a beer and think about you fellas workin!

Plus I will post our outcome, my son Ben will be with Hamilton Real McCoys.

Cheers, Rob

Grumpy, you are right about the parking. We would have got away with $12 underground at #1 Beacon Street, but, we entered the lot at 3:56 pm not noticing a significant difference of $25 more by not waiting until 4:00pm.

That really burns me.

Slickshift, we missed out on the Duck Boats and my beautiful wife HAD to go on a boat so we called the watertaxi to pick us up across the road from Boston Garden beside the Police Marine Station, it took us around the bay back to Fenuil Hall with a bit of a guided tour and this fella talked just like you said; chowdah, hawkey etc. Really cool.
