Hey Teetor .........Over Here

I've always wanted to build a boat, years now. I've got about 75% of the plans drawn in my head. However, at this time i don't have the space to build the one I want.

Then the other day I saw program on boat building. Now I'm thinking along the lines I'll build something small first. Maybe a 16 to 18 footer for fishing. I'll reduce cost and go outboard. Something like the Boston whaler with the standing center consul.

I have a few questions for ya or anyone else who's done some boat building.

How much support should I expect from 3 layers of fiberglass inside and 3 outside on a 3/4 plywood core?

In this case do you think a rib frame would be necessary? (Note) I was going about 6ft wide.

To get the 3/4, I was thinking 3 layers of 1/4" laminated together and seam lapped to add strength?

Where might I find epoxy and cloth at good rate?

Any other input?

Many thanks

Take your bobcat and build an underground bunker. This bunker will become your boat building shop.

If you don't have a place to build it, where do you plan on keeping it?

You can build it inside and glass it outdoors?

3/4 plywood plus fiberglass will create a one inch thich hull, does it really need to be that heavy?

Have you looked into the cost of an engine, steering, gauges, marine radio, and all of the other stuff that adds up to several thousand dollars? This is what kills most homemade boat projects.

If you want send me your money and I will invest it in one of my boats.
