Re: Help With Some Math
109,000 is 73% of 149,000 (109,000 / 149,000)
149,00 is 137% of 109,000 (149,000 / 109,000) |

Re: Help With Some Math
109 is 73% of 149, 149 is 136.7% of 109, so the diff would be 27% or 36.7% depending how you look @ it

Re: Help With Some MathQuote:
109,000 x .37 = 149,330 (adding 37% to 109,000). 149,000 - 27% = 109,000 (approximately).

Re: Help With Some Math
If you know some basic algebra you can set these up as Ratios and proportions. Ratio being a fraction and proportion being the equation.
109 is to 149 as x is to 100. (x being the percent or part of 100 your looking for). same as 109/149=x/100 Then you would have to cross multiply so 149x=10900 x=10900/149 =%your looking for It's pretty easy if you get someone to show you and you do it 10 times. |

I still have guys call me to this day, and ask how to find the original number from a number that has the tax in.

Re: Help With Some Math
don.
The difference between 109000 and 149000 is 40000. That's 149000 - 109000 = 40,000 40,000 / 149 000 is .268 or 27% |

Re: Help With Some Math
I used to back-figure the tax to come up with even numbers for promotions. Years ago, we never went with the 99 thing, always made it to an even buck. In retail, it makes things go faster, nobody waiting for their penny.
