It has got to stop!!!

This past weekend a young promising ballerina was killed by a drunk driver. And on top of that the drunk driver was a surgeon and assistant professor at UNC. A young girl is dead because of his stupid actions and he has lost a good career.

You can pass all the laws that you want to pass but until people take responsibility for themselves it is wasting time and money.

Had 2 people nearly wipe me out just today because they were on their phones talking. One just pulled right out in front me when i was doing about 60mph and the other swerved across my side of the road and was coming straight at me. People need to be more responsible on the road. I don't think they realize that they could kill someone. Kind of glad my truck is 5 star safety rated and built like a brick. Need all the protection you can get on the roads these days.

The messed up part is that these jack-offs that get busted for DUI again and again never do any time until they kill someone...and even that may not do it.

I worked with a guy who was on his 5th DUI before the state finally pulled his license...for 6 months. WTF?

But we are seeing pulling the license does no good. They will keep driving as long as they can get a car.

Worked with a guy who one boss liked enough payed $$$ to get him out of jail for the UMPTEENTH time and the guy had to blow into a breathalizer ignition interupter to start up his truck. All he learned was he had 15min from blowing to start the truck untill he needed to blow again to keep it running.

Never stoped drinking.

And yeah as far as drunks with no licenses I've seen too many driving to and from jobs. They just need a "legit" mode of transportation.

so sense these guys are going to just live life killing their kidneys.. couldn't there be some type of affordable way to get the home from the bar? Like a $15.00 drunk taxi service? Sometimes you have to just find a different way to deal with the problem. RIP to the young lady though

I could care less what one does to their self with the drinking but I do have a problem when it affects everyone else.

Everyone is on this big kick about how smoking kills you but you really don't hear much about how drinking can kill you and other people at the same time. WTF!!!

I for one am sick of hearing about "the evils" of smoking. I'm a moron for doing it. I get it. But I'm not careening down the road in a 4,000lbs death missile while doing it.

How often do you see someone buy a single at a convenience store and the clerk has a small brown paper bag ready for them .or how about the “soda sleeve’ that fits over the can so you can look like you’re drinking a “Pepsi”? "Business" might be "business" but I would think some form of conscious could be used.

As stated above kill yourself fine but leave others out.

Taxi service is a good idea for bars/clubs but what about the jobsite drunks, the "nooners" or the "way homers"?

Well put. There was a chick in NY who crashed recently in a DUI accident. I think it was 7 people (adults & kids) dead in that accident.

My dad had to have one of those breathalizers in his truck after his 2nd DUI. That was just over 10 years ago. I had to pick him up from the state trooper station on his second one. Mom said I should have left him there. He doesn't drink as heavily anymore. Actually he barely drinks at all now, and if he does it's two regular beers, and the rest are non-alcohilic type.

Kudos to your dad for basically quiting.

Thankfully I learned on my own.

In the last ten years I probably drank 6 times. 4 I set out to fall off the wagon "just because" .I told the friend(and he already knew) I would be staying the night or I wasn't going to his house party(ies).

Spare bedroom,couch or truck I wasn't leaving.

Years ago there was a standing party in South Dakota 100 kegs 10 bands $10. They had over night parking. I FULLY took advantage!

I like cops and realize they’re humans too but two times I partied HARD (once in the afore mentioned 4 and years ago) was with LEO's.

Some were responsible some not so much.

I don't drink that often either. I got that out of my system long ago and just don't see the need to get crap faced anymore. I do drink at special occasions, but I know my limits and stop when I have had enough. When I did drink though there were many nights I slept in my truck, on a buddies couch, or called my brother, or someone to come pick me up. Drinking just doesn't do anything for me anymore.

My best buddy is getting married next weekend (poor guy), and I probably won't even drink at the reception since I'll have to drive my wife and I home.

I don't mind if people want to drink , just don't do it and drive . I gotta go back in the time machine as Bob says . Back when I was a young man if you got pulled over and were not totally trashed and halfway decent acting a lot of times they would just say go straight home for the night . This actually happened to me . Back to the future , those days are history and there is no place for drinking and driving . If people are getting 3,4,5 dui's and still not in jail the system needs change .

I agree 100%!!.. same as with smoking ban law nowadays required in any buildings (that not happened & required before)... Human society is being stricter for the better role model of acceptance for next generation I hope.

Btw, if you drink ...just be a "social" drinker but not a "heavy" drinker.

My body can't handle partying anymore.

Minus the heroine up to about 25 I partied like Motley Crue.

I was usually still drunk on the way to work.

NOT A PROUD TIME in my life but when you grow up in middle America small town life has you drinking for lack off entertainment and driving home afterwards.

I'M VERY gratefull I didn't ruine someone's life!

If I told stories of the stupidity that used to happen while I was driving drunker than a skunk, I would probably get kicked out.

Glad to say no one ever got hurt, nor did I get a DUI. Even gladder to say I don't drink much any more at all, like 4 - 5 times a year, and even then I won't get loser pi55ed.

Dad was a raging drunk (among other things), cost him his business and his family. No way in HELL am I going to follow that road.

She made it 2 miles going the wrong way down the Teconic Parkway. Killed 3 people in the oncoming SUV, and killed herself and her 3 nieces in her own minivan... Her little son survived, but was f-ed up in the hospital for awhile.

I can't even imagine the grief her brother feels.. He lost his 3 daughters because his dumbass sister had a crazy attack, downed a bottle of Vodka, and went for a high speed drive with his kids. I don't think I could go on if I was in his situation.
