Guiter Hero "real"
Real guitars - sick speed.
Look how fast these two guys (herman Li and Sam Totman) move their fingers/hands....at about 1:30 see how fast Michael Angelo Batio rips on a double guitar - playing BOTH guitars simultaneously:
Here's Michael Angelo Batio on a quad neck quitar...if he had more arms, he'd probably play all four necks at the same time:
Sick. ....and some of you guys still manage to send a nail through your fingers LOL

Re: Guiter Hero "real"
Not to diminish the skill and ability of moving his fingers the way he does and the uniqueness of the sound produced, but I do not hear any good riffs.
You relate this to putting a nail through the fingers, but anyone can fire off a sh!t load of nails without consideration of the pattern or location. yes, I would love to be able to play ANY musical instrument or even carry a tune in a wheel barrow, and that frustration makes me wish those with so much talent would stay on this planet. |

Can't say as I cared for that fella so much.
My guitar hero is Trace Bundy and his two hand touch style. Pachalbel's Canon in D major:

It's hard to appreciate that a pound of nails of nails on the floor is just a pound of nails, but given the right hands it can be so much more. What we are seeing in MAB is just an example of the ability and concepts in ripping solos and not the complete project of an actual song. Here are some clips that encompass some of the entire project: http://www.angelo.com/She_Doesn_t_Live_Here_Anymore.mp3 http://www.angelo.com/I_Do_for_You_middle_solo.mp3 http://www.angelo.com/Call_to_Arms_Lead.mp3 These clips, of course, showcase MAB's guitar solos ...but he is also paying the song before and after the solo efforts. Re: Guiter Hero "real"
This guy always impressed me:
Jeff Healey What is impressive (to me) is that he is blind - his eyes were surgically removed when he was one due to cancer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Healey

Re: Guiter Hero "real"
Celtic,
Yup, those clips show off MAB's musical talents better. Not necessarily my taste, but definitely more down to earth. I can relate to Jeff Healey a lot easier mdshunk, Trace makes love to his guitar ! Awesome ! |

You might appreciate this. One night 40 years ago, I went to pick up a girl for a date 2 blocks from here. When I got there her dad and an "old" guy were sitting in the living room playing guitar. The old guy was Andres Segovia (some how a long time friend of the dad). The "date" turned out to be sitting on the living room floor til 1am with eyes closed listening to the most incredible private concert one could imagine. Happily was invited back twice more, as Senor Segovia always stayed at their home when he came to Indy for concerts. Good things can happen in small towns

My father plays classical guitar. He would die if he had a chance to sit with Segovia like that. Me, I can't even play Smoke on the Water. |

Re: Guiter Hero "real"
thanx for all the cool links, but that batio is sick. reading this thread kinda stings a bit for me. played since I was about 8 or 9 and use to rip, when I was 25 I busted my left hand up real good on a dive job, got pins and screws and I just had to give up the ax, didn't have it anymore

Re: Guiter Hero "real"
I had the unfortunate pleasure of seeing Yngwie Malmsteen play years ago at Foxboro with Aerosmith. He was booed off stage. Great guitarist, but musical?...No. I did have the pleasur ethough of seeing SRV at UMaine campus obviously before he died. I had no idea at the time who he was. I did afterwards.
That first video looks like...um...a spread eagle with the guitars. I like what I heard in Trace Bundy. Very nice! Zappa, that's all that needs to be said Ahren, nice find on the MySpace one. That was awesome. I was searching from that site and got this little 7 year old playing drums on Johnny Carson. Wonder where he is now?
