I don't know if I should reply to this I don't want anyone to get offended.

I think John Hagee is great. As far as motivation I would pick Joel Osteen. If you looking for scripture your better off on your own finding the answers for gods plan for you.

Re: The Great Church Poll

I tried the religion thing, I really did. I just have no use for any organized religion at this point in my life. I get from my F-I-L all the time that I need something to believe in. I believe in ME.

Try to be the best person you can. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Respect is EARNED, not owed. Don't start a fight, but finish one if you have to. Don't lie, cheat or steal. Be good to your parents, especially if they were good to you!
These are MY commandments. I know they sound familiar, but I don't need some book to tell me to do the right thing.

I thank the lord every day that I get to awake and smell the concrete jungle that I live in. I also thank the lord every day that 'HE' takes the time to bless our familys and the great old USA that we live in.

Check this out. Passage Romans 3:22:
22This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference,

AM I OFF TOPIC. I LEARNED THIS IN CHURCH. please correct me if I am off topic

Re: The Great Church Poll

I go almost every Sunday to an independent church with baptist leaning. However, I listen to the bible teaching in the sermon and don't pay any attention to churches or pastors who try to mold politics into religion. The bible is the bible. Read it yourself BEFORE you start listening to how others "interpret" it.
Favorite verse (paraphrased)... Don't be quick to point out the speck in somebody else's eye when you have a plank sticking in your own eye.

Re: The Great Church Poll

I'm an ordained minister, and I run my own small ministry. However, my religious beliefs don't involve a diety of any sort. I was raised in church through my entire childhood, and have seen the likes of every major (christian) religion up close and personal including protestant, catholicism, presbytarian, baptist, methodist, etc, etc.

Here's something I find interesting. Millions believe this book written thousands of years ago was written by prophets. If anyone in this day and age were to say they speak with god and they are writing the holy gospel, they'd be laughed right off the face of the planet. Hearing voices is not normal....why did the prophets stop writing? Did they cease to exist? There are no more? No, todays prophets are on the 5th floor psych ward........

Re: The Great Church Poll

I like to think I'm Catholic, as I was raised one. I like any religion that teaches love for one another as Jesus did. I dislike any religion that is intolerant of others. If by the hand of fate I, or Billy Graham, or Joel Olsen had been born in Saudi Arabia we would be Muslims and just as devout in that faith ( or any other we were born into).

Religion is a dangerous thing. I do go to church every Sunday, but I don't consider myself religious, I prefer spritual answers as opposed to religious answers.

Re: The Great Church Poll

I didn't know how devote catholics where until my mom told me how they buried my buddy that was killed just before Christmas. She told me they had a huge cross on the casket and they prayed him to heaven like over 200 people at one time.

I know he is there now.
