Got a late start today

This is what we woke to today.

The truck was clean when I got home at 6:00 last night. I'd already shoveled the 10" we got yesterday!

Way too early for this!

Just snowblowered the driveway.

Suck the newspaper up and jammed the blower! %#^@^@! 15 minutes in the cold with the dog sticking his nose in my ear while I unjammed it.

Now off to the shop to clear it.

Hey Mike, since you lost your paper let me summarize the news for you:

It snowed yesterday... It snowed last night... It's gonna snow more today.

Other than that the Nuggets won and the Avs won.

I just saw a sign on the side of the road yesterday. "Plowing contractors needed". It was on one of those tow behind lighted signs. It hasn't been below 40 that I'm aware of and doesn't usually snow before December. Been getting lots of rain this year though, maybe we're in for some big snow this year as well. 10" or more practically shuts us down due to lack of equipment to handle large snowfalls.

Your absolutely right! We're supposed to be in the 60's this weekend! Moved here in 1980. Seen 36" of snow fall in a day. Shoveled the next day in shorts and a tee-shirt!

You don't have a plow or someone to plow you out?

I have to say that Massachusetts has the strangest snow plowing system I have ever seen. They hire regular residents who have plows to help clear the highways. They will send out an army of 3/4 ton trucks and each plow about 6"

Actually, Seattle has a strange one too. Like one plow for the whole northwest.

N Texas has a weird one too....they don't have plows! I got stuck in a freak snow storm just over the OK. border and TX. actually shut the freeway down. I was just sitting there for about 2 hours until OK. plows came through.

I remember a few years back crossing a mountain pass somewhere north of Denver, and there were gates on a 4-lane highway for closing down the road during heavy storms.
We had stopped for a meal along the pass when it started snowing.
Restuarant owner told us we had better leave if we didn't want to be locked in for a couple days.

If anybody wants some snow, my 16' trailer has about 2' on it. Please return the trailer when it is empty.
I should mention you will have to dig out a path to get to the trailer.
Hey Loneframer, S.jersey must be getting better, when I lived there 6" would shut everything down.

If you go high enough in the rockies you can be snowed on in any month of the year. We were dirt biking down in Buena Vista in August and it snowed on us on one of the passes we were on.

LOL, it's a little different here. This afternoon my driveway was steaming from the sunshine. By Monday there won't be a trace of this snow anywhere to be found and most likely before we see snow again there will be days in the 70s or maybe even the 80s.

Snow where we are at is a temporary thing. Not like back east where it comes and stays until April. It's all about the sun here. 300 days of sunshine and being higher up the sun is more intense. You can wear shorts on a 40 degree day here if the sun is out.

I've lived here for 14 years and I finally broke down and bought a snow blower, but really only bought it cause we have a shop now and might need it for that.

Mike How much would you charge to clear an average size driveway in Connecticut.
Actually my driveway is 350 ft. up a hill with a switchback.
My wifes uncle paced it when we first moved here.

I just noticed that linear foot pricing....
$350.00
