Ft Rucker, AL - Hey Joasis - What's The Story Behind This Beast.

I visited Ft. Rucker once when I was an E-3 at Ft. Benning. I saw a very bizarre helicopter there that I had a hard time explaining to people.

I finally ran across a female blackhawk pilot who told me it was a one-time creation from Boeing. Maybe Joasis can fill in some details. I would try to explain how much bigger than a chinook it was. But a picture says it best.

I didn't take the pic....

http://www.helis.com/70s/h_h62.php - as I recall originally designed so a cargo container could be basically attached instead of left hanging

Edit - appears to be a better article on hitory - http://www.globalsecurity.org/milita...craft/h-62.htm

Not sure about the OP Wall, but when I was Alaska we used one of these occasionally.
