Following In His Dad's Footsteps

So I'm sitting in my dungeon (office) this AM and hear a thump on the floor above me, nothing new with a 2 yr old boy.

I hear my wife ask "Jackson, what happene... OH SH!T...OH MY GOD.... SHAAAAANE, GET UP HERE NOW!!!"

I know my wife, and she only calls me when there's blood, so I was up out of my chair on the first 'oh Sh..', I get to the top of the stairs and she hands him off to me without even looking.

His entire face was covered in blood, pouring out of a nice gash in his forehead. I calmly take him into the bathroom and begin cleaning him up a bit to assess the damage while the wife, running around like a chicken with its head cut off, already has the carseats in the truck, daughter strapped in, started it and was waiting for me (lol).

Indeed it was a cut deserving of some stitches (for him anyway, I would have put a band-aid on and went to work) so off we go to ER. The wife refuses to come in, "I can't watch that!" she says, so in we go while she and Dakota waited in the truck. (lol) The doc managed to glue it shut so no stitches were needed.

I was the same age when I got my first stitches, in my eyebrow, not too far from where his cut is. For many years after, I made a yearly trip for stitches or a Tetanus shot (or both).

Good this he has hid dads hard head.

Looks like he's on his way to being an F'n hockey player eh?

Seriously it's funny the heart attacks we gave our parents and now the shoe is on the other foot.

Glad the little guy took it like a champ!

Re: Following In His Dad's Footsteps

He looks happy now!
Got some battle scars from finding his limits.
Kids
Been to the ER 3 times with mine.

I think the scariest was when I saw him taking a swig of the brightly colored car wash out of the bottle......
Then when he head bumbed the glass coffee table, while jumping off the couch(3 stitches)
When he went underwater at a friends pool party.(I had to wear my wet dress clothes the rest of the day)
There'll be more.
Glad to see he's alright.

Cute boy. He looks more like your wife or you?
Scarring trims a man and it cicatrize until his wedding.

Re: Following In His Dad's Footsteps

I was just thinking about this...
I don't know if I envy you guys with young kids or not.
My son is 20 and there is something cool about having a beer with him in my "shop" while the ladies are preparing a holiday meal.
I like him a lot more since he moved out.....
when my wife is home our house turned into a little "love shack" set back in the woods.
We run around naked by the pool and act like kids.
Our son is always welcome but knows to call first.

Re: Following In His Dad's Footsteps

With 5 kids all under the age of 11, I'm used to it, but the wife isn't. Over the summer it seemed like one of them was hurting themselves every other day. I do have to say that I am proud of them because we made it through the whole summer without anyone needing stitches.

Looks like a tough little knot.

I had a short stay in the doghouse this summer after my 6 y/o daughter fell wrong on the trampoline and broke her arm.

The wife and I were both watching her jump but I was closer to her so of course it was my fault.

Its never good to see the little ones get hurt. It makes me wonder how my generation made it to adulthood with the BB gun battles, bottle rocket fights and lawn dart games we played.

Glad he's OK.
