Driving

I need to rant for a little bit.
Explain this to me here is how people drive around here:

Speed limit 25 means go 35 at least.

Speed limit 35 means go 45 at least.

Speed limit 45 means go 35 maybe 40 if your lucky.

Speed limit 55 means go 65 at least. OR go 40.

Speed limit 65 means go 85 at least.

Speed limit 75 means go 60 if your lucky IN THE left lane.

Red turn arrow means 3-4 more cars can go.

Merging onto freeway: should be match speeds and MERGE into traffic. Means stop at the end of accelration lane and wait for someone to STOP on the freeway to let you in.

Right turn on red is allowed after stopping first and yeilding to others. Means just turn right dont stop, dont look OR stop and wait for green and then proceed with EXTREME caution even if NO ONE is around.

Are people just stupid and dont know how to drive? I personally think that everyone should have to retake the drivers test every 2 years. I bet we would have a lot less stupid drivers on the road. If you cant drive or are to scared to drive then DONT!! Take a bus or taxi. If your scared then dont drive on the freeway there are almost always other ways to get around.

Anything else to add to the list?

I thought they were driving pretty good around here since they put a cop on every corner. Almost 100,000 traffic tickets last year in a city with a population of 300,000. That's allot of tickets. Seems to have slowed everyone down. It was really bad before that. Especially with meth heads.

I agree 100%! However police profileing is BS! The last time I was ticketed the cop told me he pulled everyone that ever drove on that sidewalk.

If you are not passing the cars to your right, then move the F over.

I have more to add:

"Look a cop LETS GO 10-15 MILES UNDER THE SPEED LIMIT!!!" I think they should pull them over for that crap too.

"Look a sign that says left lane closed ahead.... but its moving faster I think I will get over and drive in it untill the right has to STOP to let me in" Oh wait that is what starts horrible traffic... duh...

"Hmmm I know this is just a shoulder but I should be allowed to drive down it for 3 miles to get to my exit when traffic is bad. Or I will just get back over, someone will be nice to an a$$ hole like me and let me in. After all I am the most important person in the world" I think that there should be a$$ hole tickets, you do crap like this you get a ticket for $1,000 first offence then second offence $5,000 fine and they take your license for life.

Look.....If you don't like the damage my truck does to your personal property, maybe you should think about a more open look with your landscaping or at the very least consider a raised home.

Bob you're doing it again, I almost had my mouthful of beer squirt out my nose with the sidewalk comment. Rob, I had come to the conclusion that we had the worst drivers anywhere. But sounds like you have the same frustrating problem. I find it to be the worst when we get our first Winter storm. You get all the really nervous drivers (who are usually really old men or immigrants new to the country) and the heros who figure they can still drive over the speed limit (and end up in rear end accidents or taking out traffic lights). Both of them slow down your attempt to get anywhere.. But even in the best of conditions, I would say at least 1/3 of our drivers are terrible (turning left from the right hand lane, proceeding straight from a turning lane, going right through a yield sign to cut someone off in the flow of traffic, etc...). All I have to say is it's frustrating and I'm glad that 2/3 of us are aware enough of the rules of the road and also are keen enough to react quickly to the mistakes the others are making!!!

Robert, you left out a few;

The elderly that go everywhere at idle speed including around corners and through traffic lights and stop signs.

Lane-surfing teens who go everywhere as quickly as possible in their little pseudo-race cars.

In Palm Beach, a red light means at least 5 more cars.

And if you're doing less than 80 on the I-state, you're gonna die.

You guys should visit J-ville for a day. Pick any part of town, and drive for about 5 mins. I've seen bad driving in many large cities before, but this place is the worst. I prommise you won't make it to the corner store without seeing about 10 idiots.

I lived in J-ville in '83 and '84. Not too far from JU. I think the best best way to describe my driving experience while there is being a lonely proverbial butt log in a sea of a city wide septic flash flood.

I'm hoping for your sake that was many years ago. I once (years ago) was hosting Karaoke at a bar very close to where I lived. I got totally sloshed that night and proceeded to do my best to drive home. Driving down a two lane road, I drove right through a barricade set up because they had removed about 100' of the street in the left lane (didn't even see it coming). I was in the left lane and there was a car beside me in the right lane (which was totally intact). Me and my 82 Dodge Aspen went the whole 100' from the 12" drop, driving over all the new rebar set up, to jumping the 12" rise again at the end. Had a red light a couple blocks after and ended up stopping beside the car that was beside me previously. I looked over and the couple in the car were shaking their heads and I just gave them the .. Don't remember anything else about that night, but woke up the next morning with most of the barricade lying on the hood of my car... Thank god I've grown up (a bit anyways).

Any1 ever drive in Times Square New York or New York City anywhere? Them SOB's are crazy. I thought Pittsburgh had sum nutballs but Holy ********************!! I saw mini vans with huge welded cow killer bumpers on the front and off road bumpers on the rear! I also agree that the elderly should be retested after a certain age. I was behind one today on my to the bank 10 mins b4 they closed. Damn near stopped going around every frickin bend. Then theres the 16yr old in a Porsche screamin around the bend at you in your lane goin 70 mph in a 35, wait..... that was me 6 yrs ago

Also I know its funny talkin about drunk driving stories, I have a few also, but on a serious note I had a friend who was driving home 2 girls one night and was speeding around a bend and hit head on with a big ass truck. Driver of the truck is paralylized and my friend and 2 girls were killed on impact. So be safe when you do drive home after a night of drinkin or hand your keys off to someone sober.

That's why I made the point "years ago". I think most kids are stupid when they're 19 (not enough life experience). I think many of us were quite reckless back then but I hope we've grown up. Sorry about your loss, have seen it happen to friends of mine also. As far as the drinking and driving stories, they're funny only if no one gets hurt. And I'm hoping their all from past experiences, from many years ago!!

Pet Peeve

Around here, the majority of the roads are still two lanes. I hate it when people who come to a complete dead stop on the main highway and after stopping THEN turn their signal light on before making a simple right hand turn.

And tractors, hay wagons, nor any farm implement should not be used for beer runs either!

Shew, felt good to get that off my chest.
