I'm with you on the flu shot. My GF has been getting it several years in a row and never sick. Last year I FINNALLY caved in and got one.

Target Pharmacy $30.

It was the first year I not so much as got the sniffles.
Don't know about the swine flu shot . People around here were supposedly dieing from the flu.

Re: Do You REALLY Want To Take The H1N1 Swine / Pig / Pork / Bacon Flu Shot?

I have very good info from two different sources:

1) A client who is very high level at the CDC but is a very down to earth person. She tells us that we should, without a doubt, get the shot (nose spray) especially since my wife is 7 months in.

2) A very good friend who is does physical therapy (Emory University trained) and specializes in people that have an adverse reaction to flu shots. This adverse reaction can paralyze a person for up to 6 months. She adamantly states you should never take a flu shot.

Both are very intelligent and I value both of their opinions. Which to choose?

I personally have never had a flu shot of my own choosing and have only very rarely gotten sick. I am obviously very concerned about my pregnant wife and kids especially with 2 kids in school and the flu running rampant in our area.

Point taken. I was just saying for the first time in my life I went 12 months with no sickness/illness flu cold whatever.

I could care less if no one else wants the shot and for the most part I don't blame them.

I don't like taking asprins, cold medicine ANYTHING for the most part, THIS WAS HUGE for me to cave in and I will do it again.

My only edit to that would be if I was FORCED to take it I would be P.O.'d but as it's a personal choice I feel people can pick to or not to without scrutiny.

I'm not 100% sure but don't think I'll take the jab.

I've been forced to get ENOUGH shots.......now that I can make up my own mind......ah.......no thank you.

Yup.......that's rabies.

When I first got to group, the 18Ds were snickering like little girls at the chance to stick needles in the new LT. The one guy was saying, "Let's give him this one too...you never know if he'll deploy to ***X."

I'm glad they had their fun (ouch)

HHS secretary sports bandage, puffy eye after easily curable skin cancer removed from forehead

Guess that's old fashioned now.

HHS secretary has minor skin cancer removed

WASHINGTON — The office of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius (seh-BEEL’-yuhs) says she had a slow-growing form of skin cancer removed from her forehead Tuesday.

The spot was a basal cell carcinoma, the most common form of skin cancer and a highly curable type since it typically is easily cut away.

When Sebelius testified before Congress on Wednesday she had a small bandage on her forehead with a puffy, bruised-looking eye just beneath. That is typical of the minor swelling that follows the outpatient procedure.

In a statement, her office said, “The surgery was successful.”
