Dealing With Aching Bones

I fell off a 2 story roof about 4 years ago and shattered both wrists. They litterally exploded. Sort of like trying to drive a chicken bone with a hammer. They do not bother me during the summer, but the winter? OUCH! Does any one else have to deal with aching bones? What do you do to ease the pain?

Did wrist 2 winters ago, broken ribs 7 winters ago, both are decent except on rainy and really cold days. Had a homeopathic regimen right after I broke my wrist and the doc's said they've never seen multiple fractures heal so fast.

This is why I own a hot tub. Every morning, every evening, life saver. Arthritis is my Achilles heel.

Re: Dealing With Aching Bones

I came down with arthritis when I was 15. I was actually hospitalized for two weeks. My left ankle had swollen to the size of a softball and they couldn't figure out why.

Now that I'm older, they call it rheumatoid arthritis. I don't take prescription drugs. I keep my omega-3 essential fatty acid high, take OPC, glucosamine, and calcium supplements. If I have a bad episode, I take 3 or 4 aspirin. Mostly, I don't even notice the pain, but other people do. My husband asked the other day why I was limping and I looked at the sky and said, "huh... weather must be moving in." Within an hour it was raining.

Five years ago I couldn't take the Northern winters anymore and moved south to Florida. Excellent decision.

Re: Dealing With Aching Bones

I have been thinking about glucosamine since hearing a lot about it. Arthritis runs in my family....kind of funny to the older people around here...they say I "walk" like a Goucher, and it is noticeable....I am getting the walk that my grandfather and his brothers had.....my brother isn't afflicted with it, but my son is developing the aching back already.

I bought the hot tub used, in 1988...and keep it maintained...costs probably $15 a month to operate, great for all the aches and pains, including stress and muscle fatigue.

Liquid fish oil seems to work for me. Softball season started last week, and being the shape I'm in, I'm always sore first couple of weeks. This time I'm not so sore. It takes 5-10 capsules of fish oil to equal a teaspoon of liquid.

Arthritis, bad back and bad knees. Can't dance anymore but still play guitar and piano just fine. Take some of the stuff Susan takes and Ibuprofen is my friend, 3 or 4 at a time when its bad. I have a very high pain threshold so I get along just fine.

I was talking to a guy who was looking for a job and he said he was waiting to settle a work comp lawsuit.

He hurt his thumb wrapping presents over the holidays while working at Macy's gift wrap department He was going to settle for $7000.00 What a world----

Re: Dealing With Aching Bones

4 Advil
4 Aleve
4 Acetominophen
1 adult aspirin
3 Glucosomone Chondroitin
1 Large Fish Oil with Omega 3

I have a a hard time walking until I either take a hot soak bath or jump in the hot tub. After that, everything is alright unless I get my feet wet and they start to get a chill in the bones.

I fell off of a 40 foot ladder back in 1985 and shattered my entire left foot, broke the left ankle, fractured the right heel, broke both hands just around the thumb areas and got 3 compessed vertebrae.

Hot water is the best F'n medicing, but the pills make it tolerable for one day at a time.

I can't start my day anymore unless I take a hot shower as soon as I get up. I also take the glucosamine and magnesium supplements for muscle spasms. There is a momeopathic pharmacist I go to that started me on chicken collagen capsules. They seem to help out but it takes about 6 weeks of religious use before they start to kick in.

I believe it is Rooster collogen. My Mom gets injections for her arthritic knees with something called Synvex, (sp).

She says it has helped her out immensely.

I'm close to Evil Knievel when it comes to broken stuff. Most of the time I just ignore it and it goes away. I take a baby asprin daily just because thats what guys my age are supposed to do for their hearts.

My mom has had those injections too. The stuff I take is different. It says chicken collagen on the bottle. I take it with a glass of Orange Juice.

After that TIA thing the Dr told me to take the baby aspirin everyday. I have to go back and double check with them though. I think my blood is too thin now. Any little cut and it seems like I bleed like a stuck pig.
