Dash Cam, Any Recommendations

I have been threatening to get a dash cam for a while.

But there seems to be a plethora of options. Varying prices (from $20-$600), models and brands. None of which I recognize. You would think Sony, Nikon or someone in the industry would put something out.

Anyone here have some input?

Cheers, Jim

It does not have GPS built in. This specific video was set to record at 5 minutes and 20 fps.
Check info here.

I have mine plugged into the lighter plug that comes on when turning on my truck. Luckily I have 3 plugs in my truck.

If you have money to burn, and I am talking 4-5 figures worth of money and want all the bells and whistles get yourself the Panasonic arbitrator kit, its what the police are using as dash cams.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Black-Bo...item2a32fd426d
but they refunded me and said they can not ship ems to guam

I sent them a link to the Korea ems website that shows guam as zone 3

Are you sure the system is only 22 000$, not that much more when you think about it. And Im sure for that price Panasonic will ship it where ever you want.

Yeah why not? Just a couple zero's. zero's are not worth much.

Turns out the website info was outdated so I am asking them to use my DHL acct.

The only reason I was swerving was the text I was trying to send.

The South Koreans do dash cams well...check out Lukas blackbox with their Sony Exmor sensor.

After exhaustive research, I'll be ordering one shortly.

Just curious... why the interest in dash-cams? Are you looking to spend your free time in court, catch an unscrupulous cop or hoping to sell some clips to TV shows?

All the above actually plus so much more...- get one with parking mode and it adds a layer of security as well. Caught on camera if you will

1. Some of the stuff I see driving I would like to share. Like the two nuns driving a gocart looking thing on the roads.

2. Proof of what really happened. A couple years ago my GF stopped for a red light, when the left turn light turned green she pulled out and got clipped by a couple teenagers in a soccer mom van. Longer story short by the time everything was wrapped up the kid that appoligized to her for running a red light and hitting her became a passenger and I watched an officer coach the new driver into saying the light was green and he was coming from head on not her right. Becuase she said she went when the light turned green instead of "after checking intersection was clear" it was written up as her fault. I checked the sequencing of the light and no matter what the oncoming light is red when the left turn goes green. Brought that up to the officer that wrote up the report and he got pissy that anyone would suggest e made a mistake. Said to drop it or he would write her a ticket. Talked to the insurance company and they said don't worry about it, we insure both vehicles we believe you and will not ding you for an at fault accident. If she had a dash cam that would have been much faster to type and no one would be upset about the oversized paragraph!
