If you guys remember I am trying to sell or trade a generator I have. I get this email today and I am not sure if I trust it. I need some opinions from some experienced Craigs List-ers.
Here is what I was sent;

thanks for your mail am okay with the price and the description note
i will be paying with a certified check in US dollars and as for the
shipment my shipper
will come for the pick up at your location upon your
confirmation of receiving the payment and i dont want
you to look for any other buyer.But i do not have
chance to come and see it but am okay with your
discription of the item i will like you to give me
your contact info for me to send your
payment....................
1....your full name to be on the check
2..your full contact address to send the payment to
3..your zip code
4.your mobile and land nunmber to reach you.i will
expect your mail.asap

It's a scam... The check will be bogus. You'll send the item, then the check bounces.

A certified check can not bounce, unless it is a bogus certified check.

Had this happen to me with a dirt bike. The check will clear your account, but 5days later the check will be returned. And you will be out that money. Theres no doubt 110% its a scam. Exact same wording and everything happened to me. This was a few years ago, and I was falling for it cuz the check will clear immedately. I went to western union the money and the guy working there asked me a few questions and told me to wait a few days to make certain the check was good. Thank god, cuz I woulda been out 5grand. I bet they are sending you way more than you're asking for and want you to send the remaining money after your payment to the "shipper"?

I am not going to do it. I read the examples on CL and they look exactly like this. Thanks for your input guys! This is my first time selling anything via CL so I wasnt sure. Thanks again!

The only type of payment i ever take besides cash is a postal money order and thats it. No other money orders or checks of any kind, no paypal crap either.
