This Christmas A Chinese Free Diet.

Well the wife and I gave up looking for American Made gifts( as we browse the local stores, something we are aware of yearly btw), well actually i found Hallmark Cards are made in the USA. The rest of the gifts have been shows. Got the wife Phantom of the Opera tickets, all the kids ( nephews, friends, etc.) Monster Jam tickets.

It is literally sickening, what has happened to this country. I'm not sure how people can buy this China made ****, while watching this country go down the drain.

Even the high end clothing stores, everything is made in China. A $300 shirt for f-ing sake, they are too cheap to pay An American $20 to make it. I'm just sick.

Don't buy this sh#t, if you did return it. Thanks for your time.

I agree, and it makes me puke to think about it.
I wonder, if you did a forensic test on that Hallmark card, would you find imported ink, or paper, or something that was actually made outside then U.S., imported, and then "assembled" into that card.
Seems to be the trend on "Made in U.S.A." goods. Including my Ford
pick-up truck.

When i was a kid, my uncle( gone now), he would make all the gifts out of wood. I used to think he was just cheap, but thinking back, i was wrong on so many levels.

Thanks for yours. Do not stop caring, whatever you do. I am not sure how to turn things around, but I know we need to 'care' if anything is ever to change.

I make some gifts, just for relatives that care. My grandpa is into some woodworking so I always make him something. My mom and grandma get something too. I would rather by a gift, it would be a whole lot cheaper and easier, its expensive to make build something even out out of wood you pulled out of a old house for free. Thats why I only make something for people who would understand its not cheap and takes alot of time. Your right, most people think its cheap to make something yourself but they couldnt be more wrong.

And yet, how many of the "American" contractors who post on this board don't buy American trucks? There's always an excuse but the bottom line, if you drive a Toyota you've got no right to complain that your job is being taken by a Mexican.

Im sure this will get a lot of posts going about how all the parts on the american trucks are made in china, mexico, etc. I do have to say I would rather go with a chevy, ford, or dodge. Sure there may be alot of parts on it from out of the country but I bet a chevy has more american made parts then a toyota. The biggest thing is the corprate headquaters where all the money goes. Id rather send the big money to detroit then japan.

I am surprised at all ther american made parts on ford and GM, alot of local factories make the parts.

I've been racing/building Mustangs and driving Ford trucks since I got my license at 17. People who drive Toyotas, just don't get it and never will.
BTW when i hire new guy's, your damn straight i'm watching what they drive.

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but much of your Ford trucks are not made in the USA anymore. Much is made south of the border, and some is made in Canada.

I agree with the sentiment, but I'm afraid that our country relies on a consumer economy, not a manufacturing one. We make some things here, but mostly, we buy from others.

The USA is a land of choice. As a people, we have chosen to buy our tomatoes and peppers from south of the border, so we can have them in the off months, for this we pay more money, but we also pay in lack of taste, and the risk of food borne illness (like last summer's tomato scare).

As for American made gifts, well, I guess that would depend on what you would like to give. There are thousands of cottage industries here in the USA making anything from hams, to sweaters, to toys, to soaps, to furniture.

Good luck buying all American, if you want someone to blame, look in the mirror, we are all to blame. Is it a bad thing? For some, yes, its bad, for others, no, not so bad.

Me? I do the best I can. Everyday.

Sad and true. That's why I stated above in my reply that everything seems to be put together with foreign-made parts, including my Ford truck.
Seems impossible to actually buy American anymore.
I can remember as far back as the fifties when I was a kid, NOBODY had a foreign car. And "Made in Japan" was a joke, it meant cheap mass produced novelty knock-offs. Not anymore.

They just laid off an amazing amount of employees recently and shipped their jobs out.
It was a huge deal here because this is where Hallmark be.

Yay, hallmark.

Also since when is it the fault of the Chinese that Americans want to consume at such a high rate that WalMart thrives beyond comprehension?
Supply and demand at it's capitalist best.

And here I thought this thread was a reference to "A Christmas Story"

The part where the family dog ate the Christmas turkey and they had to eat at a Chinese restaurant for Christmas dinner.

Nobody is forced to buy a Ford truck that is made in Mexico, just like they don't have to buy a import made in America. Just stop buying this sh*t.

Borrowing money to buy worthless crap is not a economy.

So if i don't buy Chinese made products? I'm what? Un-American, i very confused. The scum bag Americans that have products made in China and sent back here, should be hauled off to prison. That is very American, as far as I'm concerned and a surely don't give a rats about putting some 8 year old chinese girl out of a job. So we can use the word Capitalism to justify anything now. Capitalism is having little 8 year old girls make our shoes, Capitalism is about polluting the Earth, Capitalism is buying Chinese sh*t while they put tairffs on ours? Where did we lose sight of right and wrong? This is not capitalism , this is about borrowing trillions of $ and consumer ****, that we can never pay for. It's a sceme and we are the joke.

You completely missed my point...

Do you realize that if the everyday products you use were made by some American union worker making union scale that your everyday products would cost 110% more?
Getting mad at companies who do what they have to in order to provide you with the tools for your work and products you need to enjoy your "glorious" American way of life is kind of immature and ignorant.

But then again Americans aren't known for comprehending anything beyond their own back yards.

BTW "capitalism" allows you to grow your company as you see fit in order to turn a profit and make more money than the other guy.
Unless you care more for socialism?

Love,
WisePainter
