Chicago Area Get-Together

A couple of us in the Chicago area would like to organize a get-together. We were thinking that cocktails and dinner at a restaurant one Saturday night might be the easiest gameplan.

Anyone and everyone is welcome!

Spouses/significant others are welcome, as well.

What we need to know is, WHO would be interested in coming and what Saturday night works best?

I think we should start a list of members who would want to attend. We will do our best to pick a location that is centrally located. Maybe Schaumburg, IL would be a good centerpoint. Lots of restaurants to choose from and hotel accomodations for those who would want to spend the night.

For starters, how does Saturday, August 19th sound?

Secondly, post if you would like to join us and I will start a list.

I'm so sorry that I can't make it, health issues predominate. I do love the midwest in the summer! My grandparents lived just east of Indy.

Hey, play it by ear. Ya never know if Lisa is up to a bit of travelling by then. And, it might just be a nice get-away for the two of you.

There's still lots of time til mid-August.

My wife has a conference up there sometime in August...but she didn't invite me to go Actually, she wants me to go so we can go watch the Cubs play ball. So who knows?

Patty, I know that its hard to get people together at any given time. Plus, its even harder doing it over the net. You get one or two people together, and you realize that the only thing you have in common is the internet. Its gets to be like htose blind dates with a really uncomfortable silence. My point is, if you get 10-12 people commited, I'll make the drive up. That many people, and somebody will have something to say.

Hey Ya'll! I have no problem being your token Redneck as long as I can bring Billie Bob, Cletus and Mad Dog so's I got some backup.

Some folks up there tend to think that ther're some bad.......Let'em come down here. Big gators, same size sharks, Rattlers, Cottonmouths, Corals, Saltwater crocs, enjoy.

My buds and I would do fine up there. We would drive and bring our Chicago typewriters.

Don't worry Bonesaw. They don't call ig "The Windy City" for nothin'.

We are open for suggestions. No order is too big or small. We can have drinks and dinner at one place and shoot pool at another. Then, if Bob and Judy book a hotel with a pool..... , well, bring a towel is all I can say!

Oh....a swimsuit would come in handy, too!

I live in NE Wisconsin. I will check the wife's schedule and ask if she would like to go. We're always up for dinner, pool, beer, and pool!

Well, had this been a couple years earlier, we could have thrown a real shindig at a home I had right across the IL/WI border. It was nearly 6,000 sq. ft, had three guest rooms, a POOL TABLE just for you Glass, a media room, was right on a lake with a ski boat & a pontoon boat. Now that would have been THE PERFECT place to have this.

Now, I am reduced to a brick ranch in boring suburbia. Had the inground pool filled in about 5 years ago and am starting to regret it.

I think the way to go on this is Schaumburg, IL which has all kinds of fun places to drink & eat, affordable hotels/motels for every budget (cheaper weekend package rates, as well) AND I'm VERY resourceful and could come up with a bar AND pool table right now. (Actually, I was at the place last night! ) There's a fabulous Italian restaurant right across the street, too.

Give me some of YOUR input or suggestions.
