Re: Cell Phones

Sun-com / now T-mobile. Blackberry curve 8900

I have no problem with service or billing. The Blackberry covers anything I would need from a mobile device. GPS, internet, E-mail, ect....

Re: Cell Phones

Go for it, dude!

The iPhone is awesome. The new operating system (OS 3.0) should be released any day now with many improvements to a machine that isn't short of details as it is. The only complaint I have about it is the battery can run low kind of quick if you're searching the net, emailing, GPS'ing, taking pictures, checking weather in 40 different cities, or downloading thousands of Apps. The thing I like the most about it is being able to listen to podcasts (like Limbaugh) while the phone sits in my shirt pocket. Very convenient like that. Also, the volume fades down automatically if you have an incoming phone call. It may take a week or two to get the hang of using it, like text for example, but once u get used to it there's nothing like it.

x2 on the iphone. Get a cover for the back and sides, the glass is supposedly scratch resistant.

Re: Cell Phones

I was going to get an iPhone, but I got talked out of it by several people who had iPhones and got tired of the gimmick. I really need my phone to work 1000% and I want my contacts organized precisely and I need to multitask. It's also nearly impossible to operate an Iphone one handed which is useless to me.

Instead, I'm on day one with Blackberry Bold and I will say I am impressed.

I've been using smartphones for a couple of years now and the BB OS is much better than I've previously given credit to it for (never having had it).

Winmo just stinks. Had a Sprint Treo 800W and it's just a POS. The hardware just isn't that good either.

Re: Cell Phones

Yes tough one handed, I think impossible. I am not very good at one handing any phone though.

Re: Cell Phones

450 minutes, free nights and weekends, the minimum text plan whatever that was, email, internet, apps, etc -- $85 and change per month.

The 900 minutes plan with everything else is like 10 bucks more.

No problems at all. I dont even have the Otter box I've been meaning to get yet so this thing bounces around in my pocket all day long. Not one scratch yet, and as far making errant calls I haven't had that happen. It's a very nice phone, especially if you're a Mac Head like I am.

Re: Cell Phones

Wide range dependability? Verizon.

Gimmicks and gee-whiz crap that has nothing to do with actually talking to people whenever/wherever you are? Other providers.

Re: Cell Phones

We have Verizon push to talk service for our phones. The wife and I are still using our old V60P phones and a couple of the employees have the G'zone Boulder phones.

I just want a phone to be a phone and don't care about internet, camera, etc. in it. I have Verizon Broadband for my laptop and that is how I access the net, and email at the jobsites. The laptop is always in the truck so I can look at blueprints, etc. Nothing like taking a measurement off of the laptop where it is accurate, rather than using a scale on a paper print. Plus if I need a updated print I call the engineer and he emails it to me and I have it right now.

I also bought a couple of V60P phones on ebay awhile back for spares since I like the phone and it is tough. A couple of weeks ago my phone fell off of my hip when I was getting out of the dump truck and then I left and ran over it. When I came back to the site I saw it there and it was fine, gotta love that metal case.

Re: Cell Phones

Honestly, I thought switching from Verizon to AT&T was going to be a PITA but it hasn't been. I've had precisely 2 dropped calls since I've got the phone a month or so ago. Once was in a bad spot where even my Verizon phone failed and the other was during a major snowstorm while on a long distance call. I am impressed with the AT&T service so far.

What's Pandora radio? Is that an App?

Once cool App I came across was Wolfgang's vault. A ton of old King Biscuit Flower Hour recordings conveniently packed into one nice package.

No offense, but I'd class you as atypical in the Grand American Scheme of things. NJ has some of the densest population in the country (really, no pun intended!), and therefore, garners much more attention and technical resources than many of the more sparsely populated areas.

But hey, whatever works for you, works.

Re: Cell Phones

Pandora radio is an internet based radio. You type in a song, group, whatever and they start playing music that relates to what you typed in.

Re: Cell Phones

have had several wm phones, solid os with solid apps, ram intensive prone to lockup depending on phone, htc 3125, moto q and samsung blackjack worked beautifully, htc dash sucked. GF has iphone, seems gimicky and overpriced with no real business functionality. never had any blackberry so dont know, personnaly I like palm os, had a centro, solid phone with everything you need. I'm pretty abusive and negligent with phones plus I hate having a big honkin gadget in my pocket, so at $300+/gadget, I went back to a regular phone (razor v3) with unlimited text and data, its linked to my palm tx via BT and wouldnt have it any other way, still do basic crap on phone like email checking, but pretty much all through palm, $20/mo less than evuivelent smartphone plan, same functionality
