Boycott Cinco De Meyo

I think we need to not buy mexican food today and not go to work and really show these people what we think of the country. Do you think my clients would like that?

Re: Boycott Cinco De Meyo

My business partner was talking to a local paver yesterday. The guy told him that 31 guys didn't show up for work on Monday and that they were all subseuently fired. I'd say the guy is in for a letter signed by someone with 'Esquire' on the end of their name.

I think all that did not show up for the job on that day needed to be fired. I went through the subdivision on Monday and not a sole in site was to be found.

Tuesday was business as usual all the excavation crews where at work and the framers and stucco guys.

I passed one huge job and noticed one guy working Tuesday. I bet GC fired all the guys from Mondays walkout.

So all I got to say is this.

FLY YOUR FLAG HIGH!

That may depend on the laws of your state. Any state that has a "Right To Work " law can fire anyone without justification. ( Never understood why it's called Right to Work when it's actually Right to Fire as far as what it covers) But basically, in Right to Work states, they can fire you for bad breath if they choose and you have no legal recourse. Unless you can undeniably prove it's discrimination for one of the covered statutes.

Personally... if they laid out, they deserve to be fired. How many times would you tolerate a worker not showing up on a scheduled day, no matter what his race is or his reason for laying out. I'm not talking about calling in sick or any excusable absence, just plain not showing up as all the illegals chose to do voluntarily. That's justifiable reason for termination in my opinion. Case Closed.

I'm drinking Corona beer and tequilla drinks tonight despite their origins. Boycotting the 5th of May (a little reverse multi-culturalism there) in America is as useless as boycotting the quatro of julio( ) in Mexico. If you want to boycott something then don't hire an illegal and don't vote for a public offical whose positions would facilitate, support or otherwise encourage illegal immigration. While you're at it, unapologetically encourage others to do the same.
Beyond that, there's little one can do to directly influence things. The cat is, as they say, out of the bag. Like it or not, under our existing laws, if an illegal has kids here, the kids are citizens. All the teenagers and twenty-somethings you see around you aren't all 'illegals'. They had no choice in how they got here and have every right to be here that you and I have. The best thing we can do is find ways to educate them about the benefits of embracing civic-minded republicanism (lowercase 'r' for you left-leaning folks) rather than clinging to the god-awful ideals of the third world psuedo-democracies from which they came.

I'm no lawyer but I'd bet just about any one worth their $250 / hr fee could examine a business's time sheets and find multiple examples of individuals who missed work without notice (maybe even repeatedly) and subsequently suffered no repercussions. From there it's a downhill stroll to show discrimination when a bunch of latino's get fired for missing a single day when the employer had reasonable fore-knowledge that he might be exposed to such a walk out.

I'd take that chance. Then put the Enron shredder to work.

In ohio on every application I've ever filled out it say that either employer or employee has the right to terminate employment with or without cause or notice.

Re: Boycott Cinco De Meyo

illegals are costing this country 65 billion a year, we need all of them out of here. and a big electric fence to protect this county. for all the money it costs us to have them here, we could afford to build a wall or fence and arm it heavily.
i boycott them and won't hire them either. i don't even want the legal ones working for me. my painter has two legals working for him, and so they are ok, but not directly hired or employeed by me. not being racist, just not in the mood to deal with someone who doesn't want to learn english, or the american way of living. they all come here, take our money back to their country, and most don't ever want to speak english. no one in this country should ever get a citizenship, without having to go through english classes to learn the language throughout.
