Re: Bow Hunting
I'm not a hunter but I grew up with a game refuge in my back yard. Where my wife and I live now we have 2.5 acres and no neighbors with a 350 foot driveway and 25 acres open behind us. We see a lot of wildlife and I always like to see how close I can get to them. Play Injun. Well not the bears!

[QUOTE=monkey;770567]Hey Cdat.... Cdis
Deer trivia: A man can run a deer into the ground and dispatch it with a Knife. I'd love to see that!Season opened here 1 Sept, gun season 15 Sept. Its hard to take the bow now that I can take the rifle. My helper shot a nice 7 pt Sat. night no pictures but we got meat in the freezer. |

Re: Bow Hunting
Never said to use a knife. Just said, hunting gets boring when you have too many advantages. It gets more and more fun, the less technology you use. Try it some time.
Opening day, is 4 days away. I plan on spending at the maximum, an hour out back. Should be able to get one in that time. Anything less then that, it gets really boring. |

Re: Bow Hunting
I climbed into my stand on wed, as soon as i sat down i heard something
no not deer It was a human voice turns out to be a teenage girl on horseback singing to the horse. With the choclate lab close behind At first I was pissed, but I did not have the heart to yell at her. So I watched her ride for a minute. she went around my stand twice then rode straight into the woods scaring all the deer away i thought. She scared the deer alright right out of the woods right next to my stand A doe and a fawn they walked around my stand for 30 minutes the doe smelled everything that horse touched. If I am still hunting in december they will both be in danger interesting night |

Re: Bow HuntingQuote:
Misunderstanding here!? I thought some of you hunters might find that interesting. My man Louis lamour didn't actually write "historical" fiction but did his research. Maybe I'm gullible but I'll buy this. Look at it this way... How long is a marathon running race? 20+ miles that guys do in about 4 hours? can a deer do that? Running down a deer may have taken more than 24 hrs. A determined and hungry human is capable of alot. I've walked more than 20miles in a day. picture a panicked deer running in spurts as the human is plodding along behind... It lets the human get closer and closer as its runs get shorter and shorter... |

Re: Bow HuntingQuote:
Dogs wil run a deer to death, not because they are faster, but because they can run longer. No idea how long it takes though.

Re: Bow Hunting
There is no way a man can run down a healthy deer and kill it. He will be eating the deers dust way before that.

Re: Bow HuntingQuote:
![]() ![]() I love bowhunting. Its nice just to get and sit in the woods. Its so peaceful and relaxing. No sounds of guns going off from other hunters is nice as well. Just you and the woods... and the noisy squirrels if they're around ya.

Re: Bow Hunting
Ebbo,
Any particular reason you wanted to ruin a perfectly good thread just because it didn't interest you?

Re: Bow Hunting
Yes you are correct. Had Cdat not made the dickweed comment it would have ended with the comment I made about not liking hunting. I won't be posting in this thread anymore.
