I think bow opens here in Pa the 3rd of Oct. Been shooting for a couple of weeks now. Haven't bow hunted in 5 years due to a neck problem. Looking forward to it. I have a pretty nice 8 and a couple of 6s around.

Personally I have more respect for bow hunters than rifle hunters.
Makes it more of a challange!
NUGENT ROCKS!!
I myself am to big a puss to kill Bambi! LOL
I hunt at Publix!
The deer here are basically the size of large dogs compared to the "40 point bucks" back home!

you have hit a subject that is near to my heart (season here on a m.a.) starts 10/3 but there is no more exicting hunting than with a bow to get close , draw, and hit a deer is an acomplishiment to say the least

Early archery seasons have already started in Washington.
Deer - Sept 1-25
Elk - Sept 8-25
Then we have the late season hunt for deer and elk last week of November through mid
December for most areas and some running into January.
In Oregon the season started Aug 27 and runs until Sept 27 for both deer and elk. With a late season hunt for elk last week of Nov. through mid Dec.
I quit hunting with a rifle when I was about 21 years old, just too many idiots out there drinking and shooting at anything and just too many people out there. When I started hunting with a bow it was great and not too many people out there, now there are too many people hunting with a bow. But at least I figure they have to get close enough to see what they are shooting at.

our bow season starts on 9/26, too bad I will be on vacation with the wife during opening day. I suggested to her that we should end the vacation a few days early due to opening day and she suggested that if we do for me to not unpack my bags when we return home........... so I guess I will be missing opening day!!!!!!!!!!!

Bow hunting is a great sport and definitely more of a challenge than with gun . I personally hunt with a custom made longbow . It's a dream to carry around ,light as a feather . I shoot instinctively with no sights . It's just the way I like to hunt now . I don't get as many deer now as it limits your range and it is not as accurate . I practice a lot to keep accurate . I believe in only taking good clean shots . To one and all be safe out there as every year someone gets hurt or killed during deer season , usually during gun season . Be safe !

Very light work schedule next week imagine that.
another problem is we have not had any cool weather yet

October 1st is opening season here. A long bow is a real challenge. Anything else is for kids and women.....and hacks.

Bow season opens Oct.1 here and runs to Jan,15.
I have been warming up my bow shooting for over a month now. I get on my roof and launch arrows at a paper plate set at 20 yds. This distance will be good for most of my shots.
I popped a nice one two years ago at less than 10 yds. He didn't have much of a rack, but field dressed weighed 120 lbs.
I paid to have him processed which is nice if you have an extra $100 laying around. I am going to do my own this year, provided of course, I get one.
I enjoy the peace and quiet of the woods...no cell phone...no customers. It's my time to recharge. Getting a deer is a bonus.

They have just started breaking up around here. Leaves are changing, you can almost smell fall in the air and we have a frost advisory tonight. Weather depending they really don't start the rut around here until the 3d week of Oct. I've been shooting an older model Hoyt XT2000. Would have never bow hunted if a friend hadn't given me a Golden Eagle. My claim was always if I'm going to spend 6-$700 on something I am going to pull the trigger and somethings going to die a long ways off. He gave me that one, I used it the first year nad bought the hoyt the next.

Hey Cdat.... Cdis
Deer trivia:
A man can run a deer into the ground and dispatch it with a Knife.
Only a hack would use a bow
They run in brief sprints and need to rest eat and drink. Of course the hunter would have to be a good tracker at the start.
This is from a louis lamour book I read years ago and I think it was an Indian.
