Nice pics as well.
Was the Mahi caught up here?
I have read about them being caught near the Varrazano.

Thank you Mellison,

All of the fish pictured were caught in waters off of NJ.

The tuna, marlin, and mahi were caught in the Hudson Canyon which is aprox 110 miles offshore from the VZ Bridge.

The striped bass was caught about 3 miles from the bridge.

I have never heard of a Mahi being caught by the bridge but stranger things have happened.... there were a bunch caught this year in Aug/Sept about 2 miles from the beach (Shrewsbury Rocks) but I didn't hear of any being caught in the bay.

Nice catches capt. What tournament was the first photo from? I see most of the tuna were longfins, were they all from this year? I take it you hail from a northern port, based on the shrewsbury rocks statement. I would add a few photos, but i don't want to highjack your thread. I posted a couple pics here a long time ago.

Here is the link the thread I mentioned

Sweet rig you got there.

That pic of the boat is from Mako Mania 08.

All of the pictures are from this year except for the sword and the mako.

I keep my boat in Keyport.

Feel free to post up some pictures of your own...not a highjack at all.

I'll post some better pics when I'm home, as that's where most of my fishing pics are.

Thanks,

One of the first quality fish I ever caught was in the Adirondacks, my father and I went camping every year when I was a kid for two weeks at Indian Lake and that is where I caught my first 5lb+- bass.

I have a couple of friends in Morehead City NC, you guys have a great fishery down there. That is on my short list of places that I want to retire.

Here are some inshore pictures.

Nice catches there giantfan. Lots of good eating.

A question for you. What species is that last fish you posted? It looks similar to one another guy posted on #11, but bigger. Kinda looks like a spotted sea trout, but that one you have is bigger than what I see on our gulfcoast.

Nice fishery you have up there.

Pretty much the same thing. I think it may be a sub species. We call them weakfish up here. The all tackle record is 1/2 lb off of the one in the picture that I posted and was caught right around the same spot and a couple of nights before the record was caught. This one weighed in at just under 17 lbs

They do get bigger up there. Our trout get to about 14lbs. down in the Baffin Bay area. For most folks any 8lbs. & above is a monster.

Your weakfish have a lot more spots on them, ours are more silver colored w/fewer spots. Ours can be downright mean, eating their own kind & of nearly equal size, gotta luv that kind of fish.

Very nice catch, what did it fall for?

That is a monster weakfish! Mine was about 8 lbs, and is a large weaky. I have caught a couple slightly larger than the pic I posted, but not even close in size to giantfans fish.

This should turn into a post your fishing pics thread. what do you say giantfan?
