Deployed too many times, these things happen. I was stationed there after desert storm. I know exactly the location it happened at. Hope the families will be able to cope.

Doubtful. Article says that he practiced at Walter Reed for 6 years.

He's never been deployed.
Just another minority who used affirmative action to make the rank of major. I don't know that as fact.....but prove me wrong.
He is a loser. So let me get this straight - somehow, he figures that killing and hurting a bunch of fellow soldiers will be a good thing in helping him cope with his issues. Man, dude - suck a gun!
This is sick. I need to think about this more before I post my thoughts here.

I'm glad he lived.
So that he can regret it for the rest of his miserable life behind bars.

His only regrets, mos likely, are that he didn't kill more.

Shooting unarmed defenseless people is not good shooting and nothing this dirtbag did is anything to be proud of.
BTW some of the dead and wounded were from friendly fire so all of his "good shooting" is not by him.

Army: Suspect said `Allahu Akbar!' before shooting
By APRIL CASTRO and DEVLIN BARRETT, Associated Press Writers April Castro And Devlin Barrett, Associated Press Writers
FORT HOOD, Texas – The base commander at Fort Hood says soldiers who witnessed a shooting rampage that left 13 people dead reported that the gunman shouted "Allahu Akbar!" before opening fire at the Texas post.
Lt. Gen. Robert Cone told NBC's "Today" show on Friday that suspected shooter, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, made the comment, which is Arabic for "God is great!" before the rampage Thursday that also left 30 people wounded.
Military officials say they are still piecing together what may have pushed Hasan, an Army psychiatrist trained to help soldiers in distress, to turn on his comrades.
Cone says Hasan was not known to be a threat or risk.
Hasan was shot four times during the rampage. Cone says he is hospitalized in stable condition and that military officials will interrogate him as soon as possible

Can't completely blame 'Hasan'.
Who let the enemy in our army??
Right alongside our treasure.
He did exactly what he was intended to do.
Commit murder and mayhem.
He's from that religion of pieces.
Let the excuses begin.

He was american born and raised, are you saying we should not allow any muslims into the military?
Should Muslims be allowed to serve in the Government?
Should we inter all of the Muslims like we did the Japanese during WWII?

What is even sadder than what this guy did yesterday is that this guy is a psychiatrist! The military trusted him with those poor unfortunate soles who came back tortured form what they had seen, done or didn’t do. How many kids did we trust this DR. to help put their lives back together after serving this country! This guy could have screwed up hundreds!!!! I hope those in charge go back and at least talk to (not as a mater of investigation) his ex patients and evaluate how they are doing. If we can’t care for those that give of themselves for us do we as a society deserve their sacrifice

Why don't you ask the parents of the slain??
Or even the wounded.
Or even the witnesses.
Or even the future potential victims.
My answer's already obvious.
Almost as obvious as this whole occurence.
Keep the enemy out of the friendly foxholes.
You're delving into the essence of 'divided loyalties' here.
Look at the actions of our current President if you don't understand the detriment.

They already knew he was both dangerous and a loser, - - that's why they sent him packing from Walter Reed Army Hospital, - - but in the interest of political correctness, - - they chose to relocate him.
Plenty more will come out about his past, - - but those that dare speak of it will be threatened.

By the way, - - he served on the Homeland Security Policy Institute’s presidential transition task force between April 2008 and January 2009 when Barack Obama was inaugurated as the nation’s 44th president.
I doubt you'll hear much, if any about that on the news . . .

I wonder if he will get special treatment because he is a Major.
What is the highest rank, that the US ever executed and when?
This thread, could get very political. I hate seeing something so tragic, turned into an "Us and them" argument. Just wait till the pundits start spinning this...

Islam is not the religion of peace, it is the religion of terror and muslim extremists.

That's fine and dandy, but how bout we not give him the attention he wanted and concentrate on the wounded, and the families of the deceased. If anyone is interested, a group I belong to is taking donation of cards, new stuffed animals, and such for the families that were affected by this tragedy. The org. is also giving $2,000 each to each of the families affected for Christmas.
Quote:
RIGHT NOW: Collecting encouraging notes and NEW stuffed animals for the families and children of the injured or killed. Please send cards/letters and stuffed animals (and anything NEW that may brighten the life of a child) to:
Soldiers' Angels
4408 PanAm Expressway
San Antonio, TX 78218
Plans are still developing, but the goal is to give these families and injured heroes something big to smile about when Christmas rolls around. It starts with the $2,000 gift certificate for Christmas for an experience on Christmas Day that will make them forget about it all for at least a little while. To contribute to the effort, click the donation button in the upper left and add type "For Ft. Hood" in the comment box that pops up (donations marked this way will be used only for Ft. Hood survivors).
