Anyone Else Do The Hot Tub Routine?

I am addicted to my hot tub...when it breaks, it is a priority...anyone else love a hot tub? My excuse is arthritis....and I feel it...I have had it since I was in my mid twenties, and after a weekend at a motel with a great hot tub, I bough a cheapy, and I still have it....what I wonder is why people buy them, use them a few months, and then they sit and rot.....of course, some think of them as the ultimate adult toy, ...invite your neighbors over, drinks, and the works...but ours is off limits to anyone except my wife and I. Anyone else of our group love their hot tubs?

Re: Anyone Else Do The Hot Tub Routine?

I was a tri-athlete doing the Sauna, Steam, and Whirlpool every day at the gym for 25 years. A few months ago I started reacting to the whirlpool chemicals so quit for a while until I could sort it out and I'm really not doing the heavy work of my younger days. The doc says older bodies may not be able to handle the chems.

I think it helps stay loose and relax. I've got the steam shower at home and am thinkig about a whirlpool but it's not quite the same shooting the chit with the guys at the end of the day. Cheaper than going to a bar.

I have a few 'hot tub experiences', most good for me but not for here.

Avoid wings, champagne and hot tubs, had a bad experience there.

Not IN the tub but not far away either. Isn't there a warning about alcohol and hot tubs?

Gotta have the hot tub. But we are of the latter group, didn't get in but once the entire summer. Love em in the winter, nothing better than sitting in the hot tub while it's snowing.

Of the ultimate adult party toy mindset too. Got the swimsuits optional (females only) sign over it. It's fun to have the wife in there but its still fun to have the wife and 3 of her girlfriends in there too.

Re: Anyone Else Do The Hot Tub Routine?

Definately not the intent of my post...but oh well. I don't have chemical problems K2, since mine has an ozonator, and I treat it once a week with a chlorine tablet...I don't bother with the testing anymore....and since I don't use the bouquet of chemicals the spa people insist you need, mine is no different the a pool is on the skin....103 degrees works for me.

Man that's funny, I learned that years ago. Booze and soaking in 100 + degree water don't mix. I've had many associates tell me stories of being on a road trip, having a bunch of drinks, and jumping in a hot tub and when trying to get out could barely keep their balance and were falling down drunk. I don't know the science behind it but the hot water puts you over the edge !!!

Re: Anyone Else Do The Hot Tub Routine?

Which is why alcohol and hot tubs work the same...headach, backache...pain...all goes away with heat. The hot tub won't give a guy a battleship mouth to go with a row boat a$$ like it does some guys on booze or beer.

I know that you are getting at Ray, on the testing, but I have done this so long, I know about where it is...purchased new in '88, fist new pump and heater pack last year...and had I known before I opened it up, I could have saved buying the pump, but I upgraded hp and heat, so it worked better...then the new pump motor capacitor went bad and I didn't know it, since it was on a cycle timer....so now, new pump ($80, e bay), running continuous, everything is hunky dory.
