Anybody With VA Hospital Experience.
One of my bud's checked in this morning for a 'nuclear heart test'. He is still in ER.
Is this the same as ER in public hospitals? If it is, I'm becoming VERY concerned. I know very little about their system.

Re: Anybody With VA Hospital Experience.
My father goes to the VA hospital in Martinsburg, WVA for his regular medical care, and sometimes to Walter Reed in Maryland. By every report I've ever heard from him, the VA medical system is a model of efficiency when compared to his experiences with local community hospitals. (I should add that he also works for a community hospital)

Re: Anybody With VA Hospital Experience.
Great Lakes VA Hospital (North Chicago, Ill) has always treated me well. Not often I'm happy to say, but the best care one could ask for.

Palm Beach is good. I'm just wondering if they have the same 'terminology' as public hospitals.
For someone to be in ER for 8 hrs. is rare in public.

Re: Anybody With VA Hospital Experience.
The care once in a VA hospital is great. Getting to that point means jumping through a lot of hoops.
Teeter, I had a nuclear heart scan and it is a proceedure that does take some time. Seems to me it was about 4 or 5 hours. Now, if the scan shower some blockage, they may have put you friend right in for angioplasty and a stint. Hope by now every thing is A-OK. JVC |

Re: Anybody With VA Hospital Experience.
I just talked to him and he doesn't have a clue as to what they're doing. They still haven't done the test, something about his heart rate being too high. They better hurry up before the DT's set in, the guy seriously self-medicates.

Re: Anybody With VA Hospital Experience.
I have been in both active military hospitals and regular hospitals from war sustained and service related injuries. The active duty hospitals are on par with most regular civy hospitals. I have been at the West Palm VA since 05 and it seems to be just as good as any of the active hospitals.

Re: Anybody With VA Hospital Experience.
air, I was there yesterday. That's one nice facility!
My bud was released that day and has had the 'fear of God' instilled. He's sticking to a sixpack a day and cutting down on the other 'stuff'. I'm riding him on this one, he never knows when I'll show up.

Nice! I will check it out next time I am up that way. I usually go to Padrinos or the Cuban Cafe in Boca.
