I dont, but when i was in Australia, everyone did it. They got the meanest, ugliest dogs, and they sat on the back of the trucks guarding the tools. Pretty cool I thought.

Re: Anybody Bring Their Dog To Work?

Use to bring my bulldog everyday until........she was sleeping under the truck and the customer woke her up after my warnings to leave her alone. She is a little cranky when she first wakes up. Twice when a puppy she has explosive diarrhea all over the inside of my truck. Now that I have nice leather seats, I will not give her the chance to do it again.

Yeah but a dog shows up every day, doesn't borrow money, and you don't have to bail him out of jail...maybe once in a while.

At first I thought you meant the home owner might get a growling dog by waking her up, but do you actually mean waking her up like that is risking explosive diarrhea? That must have been the last dog those people ever woke up! One more reason to believe the saying of let sleeping dogs lie.

I see how I was not that clear, wake her up and risk death. When she was a pup she had this issue with explosive diarrhea. The two times in my truck were at the home creapo, came out of the store and people were pointing and laughing at me. THey must of went over to pet her (windows down) and either saw or smelled the crap.

You also might get into liability issues. I once had a building inspector, who had cited me for some safety infractions (using a backhoe as a man-lift), bring his dog, and it bit one of my guys, he needed stitches in his thumb. The safety infractions vanished somehow...

That is one issue with my dog. He is alpha male. So i ether have to have him tied up in the truck. Leaned that the hard way when i was up on a roof when him and the home owners dog got into it.

I used to bring mine with all the time. I will start a little more in the summer. Right now its too cold and I have been doing some indoor work. So now she just stays at home and gets into trash, baby formula, tv remote, shoes, etc, etc...

Re: Anybody Bring Their Dog To Work?

Too many liability issues in todays world.

This is the longest time that I have been without a dog, it might be a reason for my current attitude. Wives come and go, dogs stick with you through the worst.

Re: Anybody Bring Their Dog To Work?

My dog is a constant companion, on days that it works out, running errands or doing estimates or such he always rides in the truck. I can't tell you the amount of customers I've had that see him and then when we arrive weeks later to do their job they ask if I brought him along, I've had customers ask to let him out of the truck, customers who have told me to bring him inside, customers who tell me to bring him to the job and they will let him hang out in the back yard if I want...

Yup, I know how that is. In fact if they had a dog I would ask if they wanted me to bring mine along to play with thiers. They always said that would be great. I guess we will just have to see who and what the situation is on the next few jobs I get is. Hopefully I will get to bring her along again. She always gives me the saddest look when I dont take her with me.

Re: Anybody Bring Their Dog To Work?

Yeah, Robert, mine is the same way, it's like I've torn his heart out every time I have to tell him he has to stay home. Your dog is probably a lot like mine, mine would rather suffer, heat, boredom and whatever else than not get to go along for the ride. No wonder dogs are man's best friends.

I wonder if it's a Colorado thing how dog friendly people are out here?

Re: Anybody Bring Their Dog To Work?

We have 2 original German shepherds that were imported from Germany. I may get away with taking the female Nekita Vom Nonnenbachtal because she has a friendly personality. I would never even think of taking the male Neiko Vom Nonnenbachtal. He has even tried to bite me when I came home and forgot to announce myself before entering the house. Funny how we have to announace ourself before we can come in our own home. I was lucky Robin managed to grab him till I could say hello. At about 110 pounds he wanted to eat me. Lucky he is only like that in the home when he is protecting his family or turf.
