Re: All A Twitter About Twitter?

I tried twitter and I don't get it. It seems lame and pointless to me, but I do use Facebook to keep in touch with a lot of friends.

Re: All A Twitter About Twitter?

Looks to me like twats do tweet & twitter. Texting is so very 3rdgradegirlish. Do your job right and the "Icarly" method of communication is obsolete. Serious people with money don't twitter when they go to the bathroom for a remodel job. No wonder we get cut on our prices.

Re: All A Twitter About Twitter?

Maybe i am old fashioned or behind the times but you fella's can take that twitter crap and texting and go pound it. If i want to contact someone i pick up my phone and use it like one, i like to here the voice on the other end so i know i am talking to who i am suppose too. If i wanted to do all that typing crap i just use the puter at home. Damn man, most grown men have fingers the size of a womans forearm. Just how the hell can you tap on all them liitle buttons, i play hell just trying to dial the damn phone!!! Face book looks alright but i leave that to the wife, she has contacted cousins of mine that i havent seen in 25yrs and some that i never met. Thankfully none of my old female friends have tried to contact me in anyway, she is very jealous and would go off the deep end.

http://pewresearch.org/pubs/1117/twi...s-demographics

This publication was done back in Feb but it studied "who truly uses Twitter" and it's probably not who you think...

Quote:
As noted above, Twitter users are overwhelmingly young. However, unlike the majority of other applications with a similarly large percentage of youth, Twitter use is not dominated by the youngest of young adults. Indeed, the median age of a Twitter user is 31. In comparison, the median age of a MySpace user is 27, Facebook user is 26 and LinkedIn user is 40.5
This NY Times article is also worth checking out http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/0...ers-growth/?em

In my opinion Twitter and social media in general is doing what's been happening since the internet first started... connecting people and sharing information in ways which were once not possible. There is a ton of information on the internet on just about everything. Most of that information pertains to what has happened some time ago. most things were never real time. Social media is providing a solution for what's happening right now. What's the trend right now. What's the news right now. Not everyone cares and that's fine. But for those who do care and want to know trends and latest news... the solution is evolving.

Re: All A Twitter About Twitter?

I not on twitter, and am just starting to read what fellow contracotrs are doing with it, or saying about it. What I'm taking away is that we usually are talking directly to our customers. We dont have the issues of not being reachable by our clients. I read an article about comcast providing great customer service to some disgruntled people when they saw some negative comments on twitter.
If I have a concerned customer, they already have my phone number and can immediately reach out to me. I dont need to search google for people talking about me or my business. Then again, if I had a business the size of comcast or coca-cola, someone would probably be doing my tweeting for me.
With that being said, I DO think there may be something good about this. I will let you know if and when I find it.
