alright, I'm almost afraid to get into this but...
easymoney, would you post the last 5 tweets you put out? That way, we can get an idea of what you use twitter for.
In addition, can you give us an idea of who your followers are and how they found you? are you tweeting to your subs, your employees, your friends, your clients, your vendors or joe blow on the 'virtual' street?

The last thread started about twitter, the guy who was pushing it tweeted about
'something about the weather...either it was cold and he was sad, or it was sunny and he was glad'
'something about not wanting to get going in the morning and needing coffee'
I dunno, I can't remember...he had like 12 followers.

For those of us who work, killin' time on ct is about as much of a time waster as we have time for...tweeting is like yelling in an empty theater - your words bounce around until a crowd comes in and hears them.

What is the point? No, I'm not being a hata, or a playa or any other wanksta terms you want to throw out...just waiting to see if anyone offers something concrete relating to twitter and tweeting in general.

maybe you should be afraid to get in this, first, I didn't start the thread so I really don't care about twitter that much. I will say it has some # million users (including Nathan) so I don't think it's a bad site to visit.

you have guys like you who feel the need to harrass and confront people with an opinion.

I don't have to provide you with sh!t, about my twitter account and how many followers I have or don't have... visit don't visit, I don't care... just don't suggest some thing stupid like blogging on a popular site with millions of people isn't marketing.

it wasn't a challenge. Since you were pushing/defending twitter, I thought you might have some examples of how its used and who your audience was. I was thinking I might learn something from you.

and that's why I was almost not interested in gettin' into this thread - it seemed like it was headed downhill fast. It's hard to learn anything when folks are more concerned w/ yellin' than passing information.

It was the "wanksta" comment that gave me the idea of your tone... I was all ready to come back with "FIRST!!" followed by a bunch of your own quotes from previous posts to demonstra... anyway I get your point

So that said, I'll just repeat something I posted earlier, Post your website on your twitter account, network within your interest (construction,guns,politics,games etc.) and collect "followers" then watch your website get about 100 more hits per month (just after the first month).

Will it turn into sales? probably not... but more traffic to your website is good for SEO.

Looks like you finally did. It only took 4 pages of nonsense for someone to finally post 2 sentences that actually apply. However, from what was posted it seems that twitter is a huge waste of time used for it's intended purpose, the only benefit posted is to try and get a minuscule boost in totally unusable traffic.

This could have been a 4 reply thread if that was simply let out of the bag from the start instead of all the horse sh*t about reading books on twitter and it's great mysteries.

I was beginning to think we were being inundated by Amway reps.

Hey all. I was just contacted by a major national newspaper. Forgive me, but I have to wait to say the name until the article (hopefully) makes it out. The net of the story has to do with the exchange of information for small business (business data, marketing and of course the useless exhange of social information that is a waste of time). I happened to use this thread as an example, that thank god everyone was NOT connected with via the technology in debate or we just would have been getting useless updates. There seems to be environments where Twitter is valuable (i.e. congress people updating what is happening in chambers and Paris telling us where she is shopping next - joking of course). But the net is "no one can provide a truley compelling measurable reason how this technology can benefit a contractor to bring in more business". That is a key to marketing or efficiency gains. I did search myself for my business in hopes of finding something to be in tune with the tech-craze of the moment (so I can continue to claim I am bleeding edge) but this one just doesn't seem applicable to our environment. I will only chime in one more time to indentify the article if I know its coming out, otherwise there are just too many other good topics to go back and forth with. Hope you agree, and if not ... may I suggest to not waist your time since it could be used elsewhere to to help get some business. Thanks for the help guys! Brian
