Technique
I am looking to create the appearance of 'rust' on exterior masonry. I have seen projects done this way and it appears to be a two or three stage process. Professional input would be appreciated.

Re: Technique
Sorry, it looks like this was an older post, but in case you are still looking you may want to try a rust kit. Any of these will do what you are looking for. http://kbdesigns.biz/index.php?optio...pper&Itemid=51

Re: Technique
If I was advertising I would do it in the state I live and with my own products, which I don't have. If you had bothered to look you would have seen that is not my store.

Re: Technique
Holy smokes... are we a bit defensive? You might want to switch to decaff...
Your name is kbdesigns... the link is to kbdesigns wesite... and... if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck... it probably is one... Why would any of us look deeper? Why not just put a direct link to that site? Do you think that we were born yesterday. Most people know that if you link to someone elses website through your own you get a commission... Now, if you would have been nice... I was only going to ask you how it was working out and if advertising was worth it. I think I know what you were so defensive.

Re: Technique
Not sure what You know! I know KB. Very respected in the decorative finishing world, high integrity, and is really known for helping people out. I, as does KB maintain my own web site, and also have banners and links to other companys. I dont get a penny. Its all to help people in the trade. We get frustrated when trying to give information, then get accused of self gain. And when people reply as you do with accusations, it dosnt help. You have a nice site here, guess your just watching out for free loaders! Keep up the good work!

Re: TechniqueQuote:
Regarding rust faux on stucco, I have used the standard acids/phosphate type rusting agents extensively. While they work good indoors, I wouldn't recommend outside. The chemical process continues for a long time, weather affecting it for sure. Use acrylic paints, and glazing medium- a base coat of burnt orange and begin applying multiple layers of umbers, sienna browns. Probably sponges/some ragging depending on texture of stucco. Make a couple sample boards and play around with it... Good Luck, Bob |
