Staining Flexible Molding

I have 9 round top windows in my house...I purchased some Flex molding called Duraflex by Resinart...All my trim is oak with a clear coat...I need to match it close it doesn't have to be perfect...They say on there web site that: (When staining a heavily pigmented stain is required and should be finished with a clear coat product.) I tried doing an white interior door with a gel stain before and it really didn't look that great..looking for some suggestions...I know I should of purchased some laminated round top molding but it so damn expensive..my wife is probably just going to cover it up with curtains anyway....I purchased the rosett blocks and a keystone for each window and just the radius for the round top and the total bill came out to $435.00...Any suggestions on what type of stain and whats the best way to go about this?
Thanks

For simplicity, you can paint it in a woody yellow color and then use Stain and Seal in Oak or even the Antique Pine, either brushed or rubbed on. You can tint these slightly to match the color of existing oak. Then you can use Aquaseal as topcoat. Here is a distributor in Florida if you are interested. http://www.ssda1.com/

Thanks for the advice...I decided to just use a gel stain...It really wasn't to bad to do...nothing like staining them white interior doors...The molding turned out ok...the wife likes it thats what matters!..lol I used a Minwax Gel Stain Honey Maple to match the oak...Here is a pic...Only the top curved pieces are the Duraflex also the rosset blocks and the keystone..The sides are regular pine with Mixwax Classic Oak Stain...seemed to be the closet to red oak with a clear poly on it...
