Faux Linen Help

HI,

Customer went to lowes and picked out the linen faux. Problem is, the glaze for it has tiny beads of plastic in it and the HD here doesn't carry the glaze any more.

Not so sure I can switch them to a denim or weave.

Anyone here familiar with that type of glaze and can you steer me in the right direction?

Thanks
Joe Who

Re: Faux Linen Help

Why would you buy the first part at Lowes then expect the second part at Home Depot?

If the owner's buying the materials, send him back to get the correct stuff. He ought to try Lowes since that's where he got the first part.

When you need a new engine for your Ford do you go to the Chevy dealer?

Are you talking about the Ralph Lauren paint glaze? I know that here some HD stores don't carry the Ralph Lauren stuff anymore. It's only at certain stores. Check with the store and ask them which stores carry it.

Or buy it directly from Ralph... here

Yeah, the local HD said Ralph's glaze was special because it has tiny bits of plastic in it. They didn't have it.

I just got regular supplies--weave brush, softener, glaze, paint etc.

Thanks for the replies.

Hey, I did a little research. I don't know where you live, but ICI Paint Sores also carries Ralph Lauren paint... here is there website.

I think they are nation wide.

Also, check with different HD stores, Like I said, some carry it and some don't.

Good Luck

Re: Faux Linen Help

Just an FYI. If you are doing a finish for a client, you may want to go with a better quality glaze than what you can get at a home improvement store. It is more expensive, but you use less, it is more durable and you can go faster using it.

Thanks for the heads up Kathy and FSF. I entertained the idea of using a ralph lauren kit because I've never tried it before. It wasn't at hd, so I just moved on from it.

There should be no real reason to get their special glaze, or to chase it down. Linen is a common, simple effect. It's only for two small walls on either side of a fireplace, so I'm set to go and will do it when I get to that part of the work. I'll post a pic if you want.

Thanks again.
